nnnnMeizu 22 Air was on the schedule but was cancelled: the company explains why and shows design and features

For months there has been talk of the Meizu 22 Air, confirmed by the company’s own CEO last July. However this device will not reach the market, despite work having progressed over time.
nnnnActually the fault would not lie in public disinterest toward ultra-thin smartphones — which led to several flops during 2025. Meizu had planned to launch its device but the rising memory prices created huge obstacles in the planning of future models, leading to the cancellation of the project.

Anyway the company wanted to show fans this ‘lost’ phone, through various renders: the images show the device’s design and reveal its features. The look is clearly inspired by the iPhone Air, but with a very distinctive interpretation.

Meizu 22 Air features a horizontal camera module positioned at the top of the chassis: there are two sensors, a ring flash and a customizable LED light (with pixel effect). The entire module can be disassembled and replaced, in the style of Realme GT 8 Pro. The lower part of the rear houses pogo pins that allow you to attach accessories such as a power bank, cooling fans, an additional camera, and more.

During the event, the brand also unveiled other devices — which, however, will see the light. Meizu 22 Next AI Cube is a new kind of AI gadget with compact dimensions, a 4″ display, 5G connectivity and the proprietary AIOS interface. It is an autonomous AI terminal based on voice automation and collaboration between agents.
nnnnWe recall that the flagship Meizu 22 was announced in China last September, but at the moment there are no hints regarding a possible international release.
