The link between Redmi devices and POCO-branded devices has been official for years: apart from the numeric series and Redmi’s Note, the other devices in Xiaomi’s fold often come to us with the POCO X or F series. The next generation is also not expected to make an exception, as has been rumored for some time.
Redmi Turbo 5 Max marks a first for Lei Jun’s house, thanks to its mega 9,000 mAh battery. POCO X8 Pro Max will have to make compromises to fit global markets, but fortunately it seems it won’t be excessively downgraded.
POCO X8 Pro Max: Battery Reduced for the Global Market, but the Sacrifice Is Minimal (Fortunately)
Both Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max would be heading to international markets, respectively as POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. The latter has even been certified with a commercial name, so its existence is practically certain.
The Redmi models debuted in China recently with batteries of 7,560 mAh and 9,000 mAh, in both cases with 100W charging and support for 27W reverse charging. The POCO counterparts will have to scale down to fit Western standards and regulations: we’re talking about 6,500 mAh and 8,500 mAh, values that do not overly compromise the spirit of mid-range.
The alleged X8 Pro fares worse, but fortunately the Pro Max version has had a smaller cut. The rest of the specs should remain unchanged for both models.
