iQOO 16 will challenge rivals with a Samsung display at 185 Hz (and more)

There are several months to go until the launch of the next-generation flagship, and yet the rumors certainly don’t fail. The latest news concerns iQOO 16: the release is scheduled for October (in China) and yet we are already well underway with details on specifications and features. Once again we’ll be dealing with a top-of-the-line device with Gaming Phone ambitions, thanks to a high-quality display and an ultra-smooth refresh rate.

As we write, the details are still few, but more than enough to sketch the picture of what to expect. For the next flagship, vivo’s brand partner is reportedly planning to push beyond current boundaries and offer a top-tier visual experience—with gaming in mind.

The future iQOO 16 is expected to mount Samsung-produced AMOLED displays, with high resolutions (2K) and a refresh rate of 165 Hz and 185 Hz. A diagonal of 6.85″ cannot be ruled out, paired with iQOO 15 – perfect for video content, games and productivity (though with dimensions far from compact).

The same source – the Chinese insider Smart Pikachu – also claims that the flagship will feature a 200 MP main camera, accompanied by a 50 MP periscope telephoto and an ultra-wide around 50 MP.

Battery details are still missing, but we can expect big things given the 7,000 mAh on the iQOO 15 and the 7,400 mAh on the iQOO 15 Ultra. No mystery for the chipset: we can take for granted the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, in its vanilla version (not Pro and therefore without LPDDR6 RAM). Nevertheless, price increases are expected, with a starting price around 5,000 yuan (about €629 at the current exchange) compared to 4,199 yuan for the current model.
