Milano Cortina 2026, the Victory Selfies Are Growing More Iconic Thanks to Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition

While the schedule of competitions for Milano Cortina 2026 continues at a brisk pace and medals are awarded across the various winter disciplines, one trend is shaping the award ceremonies of this edition.

The protocol, usually rigid and solemn, has now firmly embraced Samsung which is defining the Olympic iconography with the Victory Selfie.

What had emerged at Paris 2024 as a significant novelty, today, on the Italian snow and ice, is confirmed as a consolidated practice thanks to the use of the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a device handed to athletes to autonomously document the moment of triumph.

In these days of competition, spectators in the stadiums and the television audience are witnessing a sequence that has now become established. Immediately after the award ceremonies and the playing of the national anthems, athletes are given the foldable device to snap a photo.

This is not an improvised gesture, but a segment integrated into the official programming of the event.

The observation of the early ceremonies reveals how the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition is enabling a different management of imagery than in the past, facilitating shots that include not only the winners, but also the backdrop of the Italian Olympic facilities, creating a visual documentation devoid of the intermediation of accredited photographers.

The most important aspect emerging during these Milano Cortina 2026 days concerns the inclusion of group moments. If in previous summer editions the focus was often limited to individual athletes or pairs, the use of smartphones has now been allowed also for the numerous team disciplines present in the winter program.

Images circulating online show entire formations, from hockey to curling, managing to fit into the frame for a joint celebration. This allows capturing the shared victory at the same instant it happens, enabling teams to celebrate side by side, reproducing on the podium the same unity shown during the competition.

A real-time digital archive

From a communications perspective, the impact of this operation is measurable in the speed of content diffusion.

The photos taken from the podium are not confined to devices, but are uploaded almost instantly, reaching family members and fans around the globe while the ceremony is still in progress or just concluded.

Samsung, through this initiative, is turning the podium into a direct connection point. The almost three hundred selfies taken in Paris had paved the way, but the volumes and variety of shots being produced in Milan and Cortina testify that the act of taking a selfie has become an integral part of the sports narrative.

The podium ceases to be merely an institutional place and becomes an active stage, where the athlete is simultaneously protagonist of the sporting action and author of their historical testimony.
