After consolidating its position in the foldable clamshell smartphone market with the successful razr series, Motorola is preparing to take an important step toward a new segment of the market.
During CES 2026 held last month, the winged company has previewedits first foldable smartphone in book format, sparking strong interest.
Although the Las Vegas fair offered only a glimpse of the potential of the new hardware, the company has recently released a promotional message that promises imminent news.
Motorola razr fold, date set for MWC 2026
Motorola has indeed confirmed that it has moved beyond the preview phase, ensuring that every single detail will be revealed on March 2.
This appointment falls on the same day as the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, the perfect event to finally unveil the information still missing, hoping for official confirmations on the release date and full specifications.
Initial hands-on impressions have painted a picture of an extremely well-crafted device from an aesthetic and build-quality perspective.
The design stands out for a slim profile, ideally positioned midway between the lines of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and those of the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
When closed, the device features an external display of 6.6 inches, characterized by moderate and perfectly symmetric bezels, a detail that gives it the appearance and the ergonomics of a traditional smartphone, making it hard to distinguish at first glance.
Once opened, the device reveals a stunning 8.1-inch LTPO internal display with 2K resolution. The visual quality offered by this screen is excellent.
Beyond aesthetics, Motorola has placed a strong emphasis on multimedia capabilities and productivity features. The rear camera system is entrusted to a module made up of three 50 MP sensors, distributed among the main sensor, wide-angle lens, and telephoto.
For interaction and daily tasks, the new foldable will fully support using the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. This integration is designed to ensure advanced multitasking, facilitating note-taking and the management of multiple apps simultaneously on the large inner display.
Big questions still open
Despite the solid groundwork and the details confirmed so far, there are still numerous questions that make the March 2 reveal a pivotal moment.
Currently, the main unknowns concern the actual availability in stores and the hardware components that will move the system. It is not yet known what the definitive technical specifications will be that power the device, nor do we know the possible price range in which it will be positioned.
The Barcelona event will finally provide the long-awaited answers, clearly showing with what strategies Motorola plans to take on the competition.
