nubia Neo 5 GT at MWC: The return of the affordable gaming phone

The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is about to begin, and nubia has already started warming up the engines. With an official teaser confirming its European debut, the new nubia Neo 5 GT is shaping up to be a particularly interesting device for budget-conscious gamers — who don’t want to give up an active cooling fan.

The Chinese manufacturer has published a teaser poster dedicated to nubia Neo 5 GT, coming to Europe. The device’s presentation will take place during the MWC in Barcelona, starting from March 2 — as confirmed by the official image.

The look of the affordable Gaming Phone has not yet been confirmed, but the presence of an cooling fan has been revealed. This is not a novelty for the series — just take a look at our review of Neo 3 GT — but it is undeniable that this is a feature quite atypical for the phone’s price range.

The predecessor debuted at €249, so we expect a price in line. It is worth noting that the Neo series adopts “controversial” specifications: on one hand it offers respectable features, while for the chipset we often deal with Unisoc solutions (which could raise purists’ eyebrows).

The next model in the range is not expected to be an exception, at least according to leaks. nubia Neo 5 GT should again offer the Unisoc T9100 chipset, supported by RAM LPDDR4X and storage UFS 3.1. In addition to the fan, there would also be a liquid cooling system with a vapor chamber of 4083 mm2, while the autonomy would be entrusted to a 6,000 mAh battery with 80W charging.

As tradition would have it, we should expect an aggressive design, in the perfect Gaming Phone style. Among other specs, there will be a 6.77″ Full HD AMOLED display at 120 Hz (brightness up to 1,200 nits), a dual camera of 50 + 8 MP and a pair of shoulder buttons.
