iPad Air official with M4 chip: dual formats and even more power!

Together with iPhone 17e, Apple has recently redefined the standards of its mid-range with the announcement of the new iPad Air equipped with the M4 chip. This is an update in terms of performance, connectivity and advanced artificial intelligence features, at an extremely competitive price-to-performance ratio. Keeping the same starting price as the previous model, the new lineup offers two different sizes for maximum versatility.

The element that immediately distinguishes the latest incarnation of iPad Air is the integration of the M4 chip, equipped with an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU that makes it up to 30% faster than the previous M3 model and well 2.3 times snappier than the M1 version.

This raw power translates into a top-tier user experience in heavy tasks such as video editing in Final Cut Pro or high-performance gaming, thanks also to support for ray tracing with hardware acceleration that improves 3D rendering.

Special attention has been given to memory management: the new model indeed boasts 12 GB of unified memory, a 50% increase over the past, with a memory bandwidth that reaches 120 GBps to smoothly run the most complex AI models.

Artificial intelligence is the true pillar of this generation: thanks to a 16-core Neural Engine three times faster than the M1 chip’s, the iPad Air is able to handle on-device tasks such as text search in photos or instant background removal in videos via the Scene Removal Mask feature.

Connectivity takes another step forward thanks to the new chips designed by Apple, N1 and C1X. The N1 chip introduces for the first time on iPad Air support for the Wi‑Fi 7 while the cellular modem C1X offers data performance up to 50% faster than before, reducing energy consumption by 30%.

From a design and practicality point of view, the device is available in 11″ variants, ideal for portability, and in 13″, perfect for those who need more space. Both devices feature a Center Stage front camera, now positioned on the long edge to favor landscape video calls.

The user experience is completed by the news of iPadOS 26, which introduces the much-talked-about Liquid Glass design (the blessing and curse of this generation). There is also a new window management system, completely redesigned thanks to the new menu bar and to an enhanced Files app.

For those who want to push productivity to the max, support for Apple Pencil Pro – with pressure and rotation functions – and Magic Keyboard with an integrated trackpad turns the tablet into a complete workstation.
