Far from a scam, the paid WhatsApp Plus is about to become a reality

For years, chain messages circulated within chats have threatened users announcing the arrival of a paid version of the famous messaging application WhatsApp.

Although they were merely alarmist falsehoods, today a concrete piece of news emerges from the backchannels of software development: a subscription tier is indeed in preparation.

However, there is no need to worry, as the basic features to which we are all used will not suffer any limitation or restriction and will continue to cost nothing.

WhatsApp Plus, what does the upcoming subscription include?

The upcoming feature, currently in testing for both Android and for those iOS, will be named WhatsApp Plus.

It will be a completely optional service, based on a monthly fee, designed solely to enrich the user experience through additional tools.

Those who decide not to subscribe will be able to continue sending and receiving messages, making voice and video calls, sharing multimedia files and participating in groups exactly as before, always enjoying the same stringent privacy and security standards that characterize the platform.

For those who decide to join the paid plan, the app will offer a range of customization options previously unseen.

Subscribers will have the ability to modify the overall theme of the interface, alter the colors of the visual details and even change the app icon itself, being able to select their preferred one from fourteen exclusive variants created for the occasion.

This greater freedom will allow anyone to tailor the program’s layout to their own personal taste with extremely precise customization.

Advanced management of conversations and dedicated ringtones

In addition to the refreshed look, the subscription will also affect the practical management of chats. The current maximum limit of three pinned conversations at the top will be greatly surpassed, ensuring premium users the ability to keep up to 20 chats in the spotlight.

Alongside this package, a selection of exclusive ringtones will be added, designed to make the app’s call notifications instantly recognizable compared with the alert sounds of other software installed on your smartphone, helping to distinguish priorities on an auditory level.

The project is still in development and it is expected that the plan may enrich with further features over time. Among future planned additions, there is the introduction of stickers reserved for subscribers only and message reactions with animations significantly more immersive and interactive, designed to make exchanges even more dynamic and engaging.

As of now, no official launch date has been announced nor has it been specified how much the monthly subscription will cost to access the service. Final details could obviously change before a wide-scale release.
