HyperOS 3.1: Global beta release underway, but only for these Xiaomi devices

At the start of March Xiaomi kicked off the beta release of HyperOS 3.1, limited to Chinese users. Things have changed in these hours, with the Western release also underway: the next version of the company’s proprietary interface is getting closer with the first Global builds – still in beta, so not for everyone.

As of writing, the list of devices updated to HyperOS 3.1 outside China is particularly slim. For now it includes only the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in the European version, while for the smaller Xiaomi 17 we are dealing with the Global model.

  • Xiaomi 17 (Beta Global) – OS3.0.300.7.WPCMIXM – Download

In both cases the software is accessible by enrolling in the Mi Pilot program, dedicated to the beta testers of the brand’s interface. It is likely that in the coming days other devices will be added as well, and in the meantime you can take a look at the list of supported smartphones.

The update dedicated to the two flagships introduces the March 2026 security patches, addressing various vulnerabilities that affected previous versions of HyperOS. These are critical exploits related to bootloader unlocking on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platforms and some flaws that allowed unauthorized access to root permissions (on MediaTek).

Among other news we find the new design of the Recent Apps (iOS-like) along with a slew of aesthetic additions – as also seen in the first changelog of the Chinese version. HyperOS 3.1 will be available only for models updated to Android 16: phones still tied to the old OS version will remain on the current 3.0 version.
