After its debut in some markets, the Chinese company has launched again vivo V80 Lite 5G, this time in Malaysia: not far from our country, but the device has returned with a big novelty. The mid-range focuses on autonomy thanks to a 10,000 mAh battery, a colossal unit that sits alongside a design completely different from the variant presented at the end of August.
The display of the vivo V80 Lite 5G is an AMOLED da 6,83" with 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness up to 2,000 nits (HBM), with HDR10+ and a 10-bit color depth.
The device is IP68 and IP69 certified against water and dust; it has passed 5 environmental tests according to MIL-STD (including a 3-meter drop test on carpet) and is 8.59 mm thick for a weight of 224 grams. On the back, the “Floating Crystal Camera Module” housing integrates a transparent crystal element that wraps around the module.
The camera setup consists of a 50 MP main camera with a Sony IMX852 sensor, paired with a 2 MP bokeh sensor, while the front camera is 32 MP with a 90-degree field of view.
The real strength is the 10.000 mAh battery based on silicon-carbon technology, with 44W wired charging. According to vivo, the battery retains at least 80% of its capacity after 1,400 full-charge cycles, the equivalent of about 7 years of use, and supports up to 68 hours of calls, 30 hours of video playback, 30 hours of TikTok usage and 14 hours of continuous gaming.
The smartphone entered the Guinness World Record precisely for battery life, with 32 hours and 37 minutes of uninterrupted livestreaming.
The onboard chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e while cooling is entrusted to a vapor-chamber system of 3.800 mm2. Available memory configurations are 6GB+128GB, 6GB+256GB and 8GB+256GB.
On the software side, vivo V80 Lite 5G runs Android 16 with the OriginOS 6; the smartphone is available in Emerald Green, Afterglow Pink and Dawn Black. The launch is official only in the Malaysian market, in three configurations:
It should be noted that this is not the first-ever debut of vivo V80 Lite 5G: by the end of August, the company had already launched under the same name a smartphone for markets in Pakistan and Bangladesh, a rebrand of the Chinese vivo S2, but with design and specifications partly different.
This version features a curved 6.83" AMOLED display, a Dimensity 7360 Turbo chipset, and above all a 7,050 mAh battery, significantly smaller than the 10,000 mAh of the Malaysian variant. The colors, the rear module, the dimensions, and the weight also change.
The version launched in Malaysia shares with the one for Pakistan and Bangladesh the camera system and the 44W wired charging, but differs in having a flat display instead of a curved one, the Dimensity 7300e chipset instead of the Dimensity 7360 Turbo, a battery capacity that has nearly tripled, and a different design.
As of now there is no official confirmation regarding the arrival of the vivo V80 Lite 5G in Italy, but the series’ track record favors this hypothesis: on the official vivo Italy store, V70 5G, V70 Lite 5G, V70 FE 5G and V60 Lite 5G are available, a sign of a consolidated strategy to bring more variants of the V series, including the Lite versions, to the Italian market as well.
However, it’s still unclear which of the two versions might eventually land here, given that these are two products with the same name but different specifications: the one with a 10,000 mAh battery, probably with a reduced capacity to comply with European regulations on the transport and safety of batteries, or the one with a horizontal camera?
