Over the past few years, robotic vacuum cleaners have undergone rapid evolution: the increase in power and the introduction of artificial intelligence have significantly improved results, but they have not eliminated, however, some structural limits of the category. The round shape still makes it difficult to perfectly reach corners, the robot’s diameter prevents it from entering between the legs of certain chairs, and a threshold slightly higher than normal can be enough to leave a room completely outside the cleaning cycle.

Therefore the way we evaluate a high-end product has also changed. The Pascal count continues to matter, but by itself it is no longer sufficient. Today what counts most are the ability to adapt to the home, the precision with which obstacles are managed, and the amount of manual interventions that the robot can effectively eliminate.

The Dreame X60 Pro Ultra Complete was born precisely within this new scenario. It is the company’s flagship model for 2026 and inherits the X50 Ultra legacy, introducing changes that concern mainly the mechanical aspects. So we are not looking at a simple power update or a handful of new features added to the app.

Dreame has focused on the areas where traditional robots still show their limitations most: edges, corners, low furniture, chairs and height differences. The result is a device equipped with extendable arms, suspensions capable of lifting the chassis, and a retractable LiDAR turret, all accompanied by a declared power of 42,000 Pa and an almost fully automated docking station.

The objective is ambitious: to further reduce the need to intervene with an electric broom or with a mop after the robot’s passage. It does not mean promising a perfectly clean home in every circumstance, but it aims to come closer to that level of autonomy that, until a few years ago, seemed still quite distant.

From the very first contact, the Dreame X60 Pro Ultra Complete communicates its premium product nature clearly, thanks to a solid build, meticulous assemblies and surfaces that alternate glossy finishes with metal-like elements. The result is elegant and modern, even if the most reflective parts inevitably tend to show dust and fingerprints more easily than traditional matte plastics, a consideration if you decide to place the dock in a highly visible spot in the home. Put these minor details aside; when it comes to Dreame there is little to fault, it is one of the best brands in the category.

The base measures about 39 cm in width, 45.6 cm in depth and 49.9 cm in height, dimensions that cannot be described as compact in absolute terms, but which are still well proportioned relative to the amount of features integrated. The design is clean enough to allow placing it in a living room or hallway without giving the impression of installing an overly industrial device, especially since the tanks and maintenance components remain hidden inside the structure.

A drawback, in my view, is the choice to continue, in an absolute top-tier, the bag approach, rather than a fillable tank solution, thus also reducing ongoing maintenance costs.

The station not only handles emptying, but also washes the rags with water that can reach up to 100 °C and dries them with warm air, thereby limiting the risk that they stay damp for many hours and develop odors. The lower tray, where washing occurs, remains accessible and still requires periodic cleaning, especially because heavier residues tend to settle at the bottom; for example, pet hair, if excessive, can accumulate and cause odors (but this happens with any robot on the market).

The body of the robot, despite the number of mechanisms inside, remains under 9 centimeters in height, thanks to the VersaLift system, which allows the LiDAR turret to retract into the hull when the X60 faces a bed, a sofa or a particularly low piece of furniture. Compared to previous generations, the most significant change is not only the presence of the retractable sensor, but how it is used: the robot can lower it and raise it dynamically during the same cycle, without having to first clean all the normal areas and return later to the lower spaces.

Customization options are extremely thorough and allow you to choose, for each individual environment, the suction power, the amount of water, the number of passes, the order of the rooms, and how often the robot should return to the base to wash the laundry. It is also possible to determine whether the washing should follow the direction of the grout lines or the floorboards, a function particularly useful for achieving a more uniform result on surfaces with a visible texture. Carpet management is one of the most comprehensive sections, because it is not limited to indicating its position, but you can specify the height, the presence of fringes, and the strategy the robot should adopt.

The customization options are extremely thorough and allow you to choose, for each room, the suction power, the amount of water, the number of passes, the order of the rooms and how often the robot should return to the base to wash the clothes. Shoes, socks, cables, bowls and litter boxes are reported directly on the map, allowing the robot to modify the trajectory and adopt a different behavior depending on what it encounters. In the presence of laces or small fabrics, for example, the X60 can slow down or temporarily stop the brushes to avoid dragging them, while around areas frequented by animals it can increase the frequency or intensity of cleaning.

The cameras can also be used to monitor the home remotely, communicate via two-way audio and request the robot to search for a pet. The feature is protected by a security code and can be completely disabled by anyone who does not want to use the video surveillance system. There is also the proprietary voice assistant, capable of functioning offline, and compatibility with Alexa, Google Home and Matter, which allows integrating the robot into broader automations with other smart home devices.

The Dreame X60 Pro Ultra integrates a 5,000 mAh battery, a figure that on paper might seem lower than some previous models, but is offset by a much faster recharge system. Every time the robot returns to the base to wash the clothes, empty the dust or manage the water, it uses those minutes also to recover energy, and according to Dreame about six minutes are enough to restore up to 24% of the battery.

Real-world autonomy naturally depends on the settings used, because the maximum power, the double pass and the frequent use of the extendable arms increase consumption. With a standard configuration, however, the robot can cover large homes without particular difficulties and, if necessary, returns to the station, recharges and resumes cleaning from where it had left off.

The overall cleaning time is more affected by its meticulous approach. Maneuvering around furniture, extending the arms and occasional re-passes slow the X60 relative to less precise models; not a major limitation if cleaning is scheduled when the house is empty, but it should be considered if you want to complete a cycle in the shortest possible time.

The Dreame X60 Pro Ultra Complete was announced in Italy with a list price of €1,499, which drops to €1,299 during the launch promotion, and includes three years of warranty along with a notably richer set of spare parts and consumables compared to standard packages. This is undoubtedly a significant figure, even considering the premium positioning, but to understand its value you need to look beyond suction power or the number of objects recognized by the cameras. The real advantage of the X60 lies in its ability to physically adapt to the structure of the home, because extendable arms reach points where the body could not enter, the liftable chassis allows tackling previously prohibited thresholds and the retractable turret concretely expands the area accessible under furniture.

The docking station also reduces a large portion of daily tasks, handling dust emptying, detergent dosing, washing the cloths and their drying. Of course we still have to fill the clean water container, empty the dirty water container, periodically replace the bag and clean some components, but the level of automation remains very high.

This does not mean, however, that the Dreame X60 Pro Ultra Complete is the right robot for any home. In a small apartment, with uniform floors, few furniture pieces and no particularly high thresholds, a large portion of its technologies would remain essentially unused, and a cheaper model could guarantee very similar results requiring only a few additional manual interventions along the edges. The story changes in large and geometrically more complex houses, where the presence of many chairs, tables, carpets, suspended furniture and height differences highlights the advantages of the Dual UltraExtend system and ProLeap suspensions. Even those living with pets can benefit from suction quality, anti-tangle brushes and features dedicated to recognizing litter boxes, bowls and more frequently used areas.

It costs a lot, requires a bit of patience during setup and takes more time than models that prioritize speed, but for those seeking the maximum level of automation available and living in a home where furniture, carpets and height differences challenge traditional robots, the Dreame X60 Pro Ultra Complete is one of the most complete and convincing products currently on the market.
