Dell’s first Googlebook could even join the XPS family?

After the latest leaks regarding Lenovo’s plans and ASUS for their Googlebook, new clues indicate that Dell is preparing to debut in this sector in grand style.

The most interesting peculiarity lies in the fact that the American company could launch this new device under the XPS banner, its long-standing flagship brand, pairing high-end hardware with Google’s new desktop operating system, based on Qualcomm processors.

Information recently gathered and elaborated by the outlet ChromeUnboxed suggests a fairly clear picture. In the databases of the well-known testing platform Geekbench emerged results tied to a completely new device, explicitly identified by the label “Dell XPS 13 (DX13267)“.

This step would mark the official entry of the XPS line into the Googlebook ecosystem. The tests refer to a motherboard known internally by the codename “Mica”. This component had already appeared earlier during Chromium development and is closely associated with computers based on the Snapdragon X architecture.

Further technical details come from the software used during these tests, which shows evident links to desktop versions of Android 17, confirming integration with the platform known as Aluminium OS.

Specifiche tecniche attese e prestazioni

Analyzing potential features, you are faced with a high-end laptop. The main processor should be the advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, in its specific variant X1E-80-100, paired with RAM LPDDR5X configurations of 16 GB or 32 GB.

There would also be a touchscreen panel with OLED technology measuring 13.4 inches, characterized by a high resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. On the connectivity front, rumors indicate the presence of the Wi-Fi 7 standard, the Bluetooth module and a dual USB-C port.

The terminal has recorded about 2,200 points in single-core calculations and has surpassed 9,500 points in multi-core mode. However, these figures should be interpreted with due caution, since they could derive from preliminary software versions and not yet optimized, not to mention the ease with which benchmark data can be altered.

Il valore strategico di un marchio storico

The most noteworthy aspect of these previews remains Dell’s precise business decision. Traditionally, the manufacturer reserves the iconic XPS name exclusively for its own most prestigious laptops, machines known for premium materials and flawless construction.

If these rumors were to be borne out by facts, the platform promoted by the Mountain View tech giant would receive a huge vote of confidence. The new notebook would become in fact the first Google-based operating system to enjoy the exclusive treatment reserved for Dell’s top-of-the-line models.

A decision of such magnitude would demonstrate the intention to position future Googlebooks not as mere low-end tools, but as elite products capable of competing in the most profitable and demanding segment of the market.
