Xiaomi is gearing up for the debut of the new mid-range series, the brand’s most popular and best-selling. The Redmi Note 17 family will make its appearance in China on July 14, while for the Global versions we will have to wait, as usual.
However, the latest rumors point to a possible early launch, at least for the Indian market. An earlier debut, which might also influence the release of European models.
Redmi Note 17: the Global series could debut as early as 2026
The latest rumors come from Yogesh Brar, an insider who has often proven reliable but focused mainly on India. According to what has been revealed, the new Redmi Note 17 Global will be launched in the country before the Diwali period. The main day of the festival is November 8, so the series could make an appearance during the month of October.
September is too early, and then during this period all the attention of Lei Jun’s company will be directed to the Xiaomi 18 lineup, arriving in China. The current Redmi Note 15 family was introduced in India in January and then in Italy and Europe a few days later.
At this point we can be optimistic: the brand could replicate these timelines and announce the Redmi Note 17 series in Europe by the end of the year, instead of waiting for 2027.
There are also details on the chipsets
While waiting to hear more, we are still dealing with leaks and conjectures; the leaker also reveals the possible chipsets for Global markets. The base Redmi Note 17 would have on its side the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, while the higher-end Pro would rely on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 – a slight leap forward. The top would be Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, equipped with the Dimensity 7500 from MediaTek.
We should note that Italian Redmi Note 15, 15 Pro and 15 Pro+ use – respectively – Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Dimensity 7400 Ultra and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4.
The question remains about the Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro’s 9,000 mAh super battery: will it also arrive here with the same capacity, or will it be toned down? Given past precedents, Global models could undergo changes; the current lineup features displays different from those in China (from Flat to Dual Edge for some models), changes in cameras and the usual reduced-capacity batteries.
