Samsung has a punch-hole tablet in mind: unveiled by One UI 9

Until now, Samsung tablets have always relied on two solutions for the front camera: either the selfie camera is inserted inside the traditional bezels or it is placed in a notch, as with the Ultra models. Things could change this year, at least according to what emerged from one of the latest beta versions of One UI 9.0.

A system animation shows a new design for the front of the brand’s tablets: for the first time a a central punch hole appears, an element that hints at a change of look for future models.

This supposed novelty does not appear in the beta versions of One UI 8.5: therefore it means that these are animations designed specifically for the new software, based on Android 17. Observing the images you can notice a central hole on the long side of the display; however in another system animation the punch hole finds space on the short side (in a way similar to what happens with a smartphone).

At this point there are two possibilities: Samsung could launch two tablets with two different punch-hole positions, or we are dealing with purely indicative images.

Personally, we lean toward the first hypothesis; otherwise why embed a tablet with a hole into its own interface? Anyway the next Samsung update is near: in July the Unpacked event dedicated to the new foldables Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 will take place, along with wearables Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2.

Generally the tablet period is localized in the last months of the year, around September. The debut of the Galaxy Tab S12 series is expected: will the new front camera debut with the new models or will we have to wait longer?
