After weeks of rumors about the higher-end model of the range, the debut of Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ has finally arrived – and once again we were right. The new device in the family, in reality, isn’t that new: as speculated, the technical specifications perfectly match the Pro model already announced in Italy last April. Good news, because it means we have got our hands on the flagship mid-range well in advance.
To fully understand the Plus designation, a clarification is necessary: the Indian version of the Edge 70 Pro was announced with a multispectral sensor on board instead of a telephoto lens and with wired charging. The device launched in Italy – which addresses these shortcomings – is now debuting in India under the name Motorola Edge 70 Pro+.
The phone inherits the elegant lines of the series, with a Squircle camera module that rises from the chassis, Pantone colors and distinctive textures. The front panel houses an Extreme AMOLED display of 6.8″ diagonal with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits.
The heart of the new Motorola is the Dimensity 8500 Extreme, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage (the Italian variant debuted with 512 GB). The camera system remains solid: the 50 MP main sensor LYT-710 is equipped with optical stabilization and arrives together with an ultra-wide and a periscopic telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom.
The battery is a silicon-carbon unit of 6,500 mAh with wired 90W charging and wireless 15W; there is also support for reverse charging, both wired and wireless.
The price of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ is about €431 at the current exchange rate, i.e., 47,999 rupees, for the 12/256 GB configuration only. The Italian twin was announced in the 12/512 GB trim and costs €799 – clearly we are talking about a different market and a different currency, such disparities are commonplace when looking at different countries.
