The Chinese manufacturer has announced in China the new vivo S60 and S60 Vitality, devices that could be of considerable interest to us Westerners as well — despite the different market. This is because the S series is historically linked to the V lineup, distributed globally (Europe and Italy included). Let’s discover all the mid-range novelties, while we wait to learn more about distribution at our latitudes.
The vivo S60 family diverges from the aesthetics of S50 and our V70, introducing a wide island rectangular (with rounded corners) that houses the camera module and the LED flash. If you are thinking of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, you’ve hit the mark: the new design seems inspired by Cupertino’s own, even though vivo finds its path by leaning on the usual elegance and on particularly delicate colorways.
The Starry Sea variant is pristine and clean, with glossy elements that recall the starry sky; the model Early Summer Green offers a mint green shade while Midsummer Night is the classic black color (for those aiming for a simple and sober look).
Both phones adopt the same design and share many features: what changes are the chipset and the camera department. The S60 model relies on Qualcomm with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 while the S60 Vitality brother looks to MediaTek, with the very recent Dimensity 7500.
The former mounts a triple camera sensors of 50 + 50 + 8 MP: the main (Sony) is accompanied by a periscope telephoto and a ultra-wide. The Vitality model is downsized and forgoes the tele; the rest remains unchanged, including the 50 MP selfie camera.
Frontalmente find a 6.59″ AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nit.
As for price, the vivo S60 starts from around €455 at the current exchange rate (i.e. 3,599 yuan) for the 12/256 GB version. The smaller sibling vivo S60 Vitality starts from 8/256 GB, on sale at 2,899 yuan (around €367).
At the moment the debut has happened only in the homeland and there are no details on the Global version. Remember that this should arrive as vivo V80 but it is not known whether there will be room for both new models of the S family and if there will be variations (globally and European).
