The next trend in foldable smartphones will be the wide format, bulkier than traditional foldables but able to offer a better viewing experience. After Huawei’s first step (with Pura X Max), it will also be Samsung’s turn with its Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: it’s the first time that a book-style foldable has changed shape, and now a case-maker seems to ‘confirm’ the existence of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: here are the protective covers for the company’s first wide-foldable

Companies specializing in the production of gadgets and accessories are always an invaluable source of previews: usually these companies receive information well before the debut, perhaps not official images but enough for a confirmation.
This is what happened with Samsung’s upcoming gem, teased by Alibaba. The Chinese e-commerce giant hosts a wide variety of products, and now a cover manufacturer has shown several items dedicated to the unannounced wide smartphone from the Korean company – there is also a short video, shared along with the images by insider Ice Universe.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will arrive this summer alongside the other devices in the series: we’ll see the classic book-format like Z Fold 8, but compared to the latter the phone will have a 4:3 aspect ratio. The final look, similar to that of Huawei Pura X Max, will certainly be shorter and wider but in reality this will have quite a few advantages on the internal display front.
This will allow you to take advantage of a wide surface of around a 7.6-inch diagonal, but without bulk and in a form factor similar to that of a small tablet.

The new Samsung experiment, however, would have compromises: according to the leak so far, the device would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy (the same SoC as the Galaxy S26 Ultra) but would offer a dual-camera setup. There would be no telephoto lens, focusing only on a 200 MP main sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Below you will find an initial draft of the technical specifications, based on rumors. The presentation is expected to take place on July 22, at the next Unpacked event: Samsung has not yet revealed the date, but the leak machine is already in motion and it will be hard to stop.
