Honon WIN puts the Turbo on: a new Gaming Phone coming soon

After a long lean period, characterized by REDMAGIC’s dominance, numerous Chinese manufacturers are reviving the Gaming Phone category. It seems the first two models were not enough, and here is the announcement of Honor WIN Turbo, a device that seems to aim more at an upgrade than at a brand-new smartphone: but what could be the novelties for a flagship that already has it all?

Honor WIN Turbo is the next addition to the series: what we know about the gaming flagship

Launched last December in China, Honor WIN and WIN RT quickly stood out from the crowd: the aesthetics nod to the Gaming Phone trend but without excess, while under the hood beats a Qualcomm heart — with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite (for the RT version).

6.83″ display with a 185 Hz refresh rate and brightness up to 6,000 nits, a liquid cooling system in combination with a fan, a gigantic 10,000 mAh battery and an IP69K waterproof chassis.

In short, the two smartphones sit at the top of the category but now there is more: Honor WIN Turbo promises even more power, in the early official teasers. The launch is set for May and there will be at least three areas of improvement: gaming performance, battery life, and design.

Probabilmente we’ll have a new look, even with an unchanged camera island: the teasers show a rectangular island similar to that of the other two devices in the WIN series. According to insider Digital Chat Station, WIN Turbo seems to have the same internal code as Honor Power 2 so it does not rule out that it could be a rebrand with gaming-related improvements.

In this case we would not be dealing with a new flagship addition but with the entry-level model of the family (even though the Turbo label suggests a higher-end variant).

When is Honor WIN 2 coming?

While waiting to learn more, there are also some rumors about the next chapter: Honor WIN 2 would have a 2 nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC, a cooling fan and a battery with a capacity greater than 10.000 mAh. Additionally, the launch should occur earlier than expected, but precise details are missing.
