By now, both in China and globally, the compact flagship models of the latest generation have gained traction. Flagship devices, with stellar specs and cameras, but characterized by small dimensions and displays around 6.3 inches. And with the advent of extra-large batteries, things will become even more interesting for everyone, including Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The next flagship from Lei Jun’s company is expected in September (in China) but there is already talk about the features of the upcoming series. Based on what has emerged so far, the company should reprise the same triad of the current generation:
With the next range there will be various novelties, at least according to leaks so far. In particular, Xiaomi 18 Pro should be the brand’s first compact flagship with dimensioni mini and a silicon-carbon battery starting from 7.000 mAh.
The leaker Digital Chat Station doesn’t reveal the exact capacity, so there’s still room for growth. The next Pro model should be particularly appealing for at least a couple of reasons: it is almost certain that it will continue to have the Second Rear Display on board, while the camera setup would be entrusted to a triad consisting of at least two 200 MP sensors.
Below you will find an initial draft of the technical sheet, based on the rumors so far and to be taken only as an example — awaiting more details and official confirmations.
The smallest in the series is certainly the model that Western users are most interested in, given that so far Pro versions have remained China-exclusive. Xiaomi 18 base should reprise the same 6.3″ screen or vary very slightly (6.4″) to have a larger internal space.
Compared to the Pro version, the rear screen will certainly be missing while the camera setup would be limited to a single 200 MP sensor — a telephoto periscope (versus the standard one mounted so far). Also the chipset would be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 “plain” (not Pro), with differences in RAM and GPU (according to leaks so far).
We expect a 7,000 mAh battery, like the current Xiaomi 17 Chinese (in Italy it’s 6,330 mAh), always with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless.
As for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max it is likely we will see the same characteristics as this generation: so we expect specifications overlapping with those of 18 Pro, but with a 6.9″ display and a larger battery (given the larger space available).
