X Down today: what’s happening to X (formerly Twitter) | March 26

Update – It seems the issue has subsided, given the drop in reports on Downdetector. We will continue to monitor the situation, but it is likely that it was a global but temporary outage, lasting less than an hour.

If you are trying to access your X profile (formerly Twitter) and you see an error message or a completely empty feed, you are not alone. Since this morning, Thursday, March 26, 2026, thousands of users in Italy and around the world have been reporting serious access issues and malfunctions on Elon Musk’s platform.

In this article we take stock of the situation, analyzing data from Downdetector and trying to understand when the service will return to normal.

Reports started to surface massively around 8:00 (Italian time). Users are experiencing several types of problems: inability to load posts, login error, mobile app not functioning and issues with media and the timeline.

The main feed appears empty or stuck several hours ago and many users receive the message “Something went wrong. Please try refreshing.”. The iOS and Android apps also seem affected, with notifications not updating and content not displaying correctly.

That said, not everyone seems to be affected by these problems, which therefore occur intermittently. At the moment there are no official communications yet, so we await further details.
