The release of the first official trailer for the new Spider-Man cinematic chapter, included within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has brought with it a detail that hasn’t gone unnoticed by tech and marketing enthusiasts.
The film, titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day“, indeed marks a significant break from the previous films in terms of brand positioning.
For many years, Peter Parker’s adventures on the big screen have been faithfully accompanied by Sony smartphones, with the protagonist often photographed while using various models of the Xperia line. It was entirely natural given the historical dynamics tied to the character’s rights.
However, the recent promotional sequences highlight an unexpected switch: the superhero now relies on a Samsung-branded smartphone, an exceptional commercial triumph for the South Korean company, capable of inserting its products into one of the most profitable and globally followed film franchises.
The first images of the film instantly catapult the viewer into the protagonist’s daily action in New York. We find Spider-Man hanging head-down from a towering skyscraper, in a moment of pause from his usual urban patrols. During this scene, the hero deftly handles a device belonging to theGalaxy Z Flip series.
A curious detail, capable of making fans smile, is the ease with which the character places the expensive foldable smartphone face down on a rough metal surface, a practice decidedly not recommended for anyone who wants to preserve the integrity of a delicate flexible screen.
Having picked up the phone again, the web-slinger casually scrolls through what appear to be Instagram Reels, watching short videos featuring his friends Ned and MJ.
An element emerging from an analysis of the footage concerns the phone’s inner display: in post-production, the visual effects artists appear to have completely removed the characteristic hole dedicated to the front camera and the crease, giving the audience the illusion of a completely uniform screen with no interruptions.
Even in the absence of official confirmation from the production, the device details strongly suggest that it is a Galaxy Z Flip 6. The smartphone is indeed easily recognizable thanks to the prominent silver rings that surround the rear cameras. It is far less likely to be the newer Galaxy Z Flip 7.
The Flip 6 was launched on the market in July 2024, while its direct successor debuted only in July 2025. Considering that the filming of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” began in August 2025, it seems logical that the on-set scene choice fell on the version already widely available on the market at the start of production.
The wait for fans will end on July 31, the date on which the film will make its official worldwide theatrical debut. Below you’ll find the official trailer:
