If 2025 was the year of dual rotating mops, 2026 marks the definitive shift: the era of the rolling mop. Until recently, this technology (significantly more effective against stubborn stains) was a luxury for a few, a feature often limited to bulky robots and, above all, very expensive, with prices easily exceeding €1000.
Eufy Omni C28 enters the scene to break this pattern, not by chance it is the first mainstream roller mop robot that aims to condense premium performance into a compact design and, above all, at a human price, hypothetically affordable to everyone. And no, don fall for the trap like me, and don be fooled by the station’s size, decidedly more discreet than the rivals’ “monoliths”, because under the hood there are many small elements truly interesting. Its not the usual robot that “mops” the floor, in short.
Unlike many competitors that don seem truly designed for home environments, due to dimensions often prohibitive for those who don own a very large house, the Eufy Omni C28 chooses the path of intelligent compactness. The robot presents itself first and foremost with an elegant matte black finish, a godsend for hiding fingerprints and dust left after handling it with damp hands, as well as the indispensable LiDAR tower that rises like a small crown. The real highlight, however, is the shape: slightly more squared than usual to reach where circular robots fail, namely in corners and along the skirting boards. It not the first time the brand has tried this, and I must say it succeeds well.
Under the hood lies the technological heart of this model: the DuoSpiral system. Instead of the classic single brush, Eufy has inserted two counter-rotating rollers that work in synergy. The result is phenomenal, because those dealing with the fur of their four-legged friends (including long fur) won’t get away from it with this system, but above all they won tangle, which allows drastically reducing manual maintenance. Alongside the brushes shines the HydroJet system: a long mop roller that stays constantly wet and self-cleans while working, preventing dragging dirt from one room to another.
The Omni Station is then the real game changer of this model; it is packed with features, all concentrated in a space significantly smaller than the competition. It autonomously handles dust emptying (with a bag that lasts over a month), washing the roller and drying with warm air to avoid bad odors. Inside the station there are the tanks for clean and dirty water, easy to remove and rinse. Although the robot is a bit heavier than average due to the integrated water tanks that guarantee constant floor pressure, the engineering work by Eufy is of a high level, including obstacle and height-difference management, which can be overcome up to 21mm without difficulty.
Although it does not yet replace intensive manual cleaning for days-old grime, the Eufy C28 represents a good solution, in a price range where competitors do not offer the same level of technology. Eufy, after all, is under Anker, a company not exactly new and thus with some technical field experience, undoubtedly present.
The Eufy ecosystem relies on the Eufy Clean app (make sure to download the correct version to avoid initial pairing issues), which proved stable and responsive during tests on iPhone, and of course is available on Android as well. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi setup is fast, and after a few moments youre ready to proceed to the first mapping in minutes. The LiDAR system positioned on the upper turret works with precision; the robot does not randomly “explore” the home, but moves with a logical plan, properly dividing rooms already on the first pass, thanks also to the artificial intelligence that runs the navigation system on board.
On the navigation front, the C28 shows excellent spatial awareness: it can recognize and reliably avoid legs of chairs, pet bowls and shoes. However, as often happens even with much more expensive models, the downside remains cords scattered around the home, perhaps in a living area or office, which are difficult to identify and avoid. In my studio, for example, I tried to move the cords where possible, and in other places I created restricted zones via the app, an operation that is done with a few taps thanks to a very fluid map editing tool.
The interface allows you to customize every aspect of the home cleaning; very convenient is the ability to create specific routines, for example a deep wash in the kitchen every evening and a standard suction in the living room on alternating days, or adjust the water flow of the HydroJet system depending on the room. The integration with Google Assistant is present and works quite well: voice commands to start, pause or send the robot back to the base are executed with no noticeable latency. All in all, this is a robot whose software does not try to wow with superfluous features, but focuses on ease of use and practical daily management.
The autonomy of a modern vacuum robot is no longer measured solely in minutes of battery life, but in its ability to complete the job without requiring human intervention. During tests in my home, an apartment of around 100 square meters with a ceramic tile floor, the robot managed the entire cleaning cycle in a single session. In Standard mode, energy consumption is optimized to cover large areas without hesitation; if you opt for Max mode, perhaps for non-daily and ordinary cleanings, the autonomy drops noticeably, but remains more than sufficient for most standard apartments.
So, in the end, you might be wondering if it worth investing in this Eufy Omni C28. After putting it through its paces among coffee, milk, flour and pet hair, the answer is a firm yes, but with the awareness of what you are buying. The robot strength is its extreme pragmatism. In a market that often gets lost in dazzling suction figures but little useful for daily life, Eufy has focused entirely on cleaning effectiveness. The rotating roller HydroJet is, in my view, the real game-changer: the difference between “mopping with a damp cloth” and “actively washing” is visible to the naked eye, especially if you have ceramic or parquet floors that tend to show even the smallest stain. If we add to this the nearly perfect management of hair and fur thanks to the DuoSpiral brush, you have a formidable ally for those who don have time (or willingness) to battle tangles every week.
Unsurprisingly, there are trade-offs too. If you seek absolute silence, the emptying phase in the Omni Station is noticeable, while the water tanks, though well designed, require ongoing maintenance (emptying and rinsing every 2-3 days is the price to pay to avoid unpleasant odors). Also, if your home is a labyrinth of cables and small objects, you still need to do a bit of “preventive tidying”, because navigation is excellent but not yet infallible against charging cables left on the floor.
The list price sits at €599, a fair figure for the technology on offer. However, the real deal comes from monitoring the official site, where its not uncommon to find discounts ranging from €100 to €150, which allow you to bring this gem home for under €500, which is not to be underestimated.
