The new POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max are one step away from debut. The Global launch event (also for Italy) is set for the March 17 and Xiaomi is teasing Mi Fans with small-dose previews. After the design and chipsets, this time it’s the batteries of the new mid-range. Both will have extra-large units (so we can’t complain) but they remain less powerful than their Chinese counterparts – as is now tradition.
Remember that POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max are nothing more than the Western rebrands of the Chinese devices Redmi Turbo 5 and 5 Max. The latter debuted in China in January with batteries of 7,560 mAh and 9,000 mAh, however the Global variants will be trimmed.
The reason is explained in this in-depth look (still valid, at the moment) while, regarding the POCO pair, these will arrive with units of 6,500 mAh and 8,500 mAh. For both there is support for wired fast charging at 100W; moreover they can be used as power banks thanks to reverse charging.
The new silicon-carbon batteries are delivering great satisfaction to Western users, even though they arrive downgraded for regulatory reasons. Note that the Pro Max model will keep 9,000 mAh in some markets, such as India. Finally Xiaomi has confirmed POCO X8 Pro Iron Man Edition, already featured in some leaks – and limited only to India.
