The Chinese manufacturer continues on its path and during the Barcelona MWC presented the latest in the world of mobile gaming. The new nubia Neo 5 GT 5G is official and presents itself as a gaming smartphone in a counter-trend: mid-range specs but a distinctive design and features to entice enthusiasts who game on smartphones, with an eye on price.
The main feature of nubia Neo 5 GT 5G is its Gaming Phone nature, but without weighing on the wallet. The device arrives with an aggressive look and a futuristic flavor and continues the tradition of the previous Neo 3 GT: on board we find an active cooling system (with a fan) and a pair of rear touch-sensitive buttons.
These are details usually reserved for a higher tier, for example starting from 499€ with REDMAGIC 11 Air. The cooling area of the new Neo model covers up to 29,508 mm2 while the rear triggers offer a touch sampling of 3,049 Hz and a latency of less than 5.5 ms.
The other confirmed specifications include an AMOLED display of 6,8″ with a central punch hole, resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 144 Hz, with a touch sampling rate of 3,049 Hz and up to 4,500 nit peak brightness. The smartphone is powered by 6,210 mAh of battery with 80W charging (45W in Europe), in a light and slim body – with an IP64 rating.
Compared to its predecessor, nubia Neo 5 GT 5G makes a leap forward: no Unisoc chipset, but chooses to rely on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 with LPDDR5 RAM at 6,400 Mbps. Among the various additions we find the NeoTurbo Engine technology for maximum frame rate stability and a 360° antenna (to maintain impeccable connectivity, regardless of how you hold the phone).
Completing the picture is a main camera with a 50 MP sensor and a 16 MP selfie camera.
The new Gaming Phone by nubia will arrive in Europe in the month of April, at a starting price of €399. As soon as we know more we will update this article with all the details – and the purchase links.
