The fever of Gaming Phones has returned after a long period of drought, but in a different form. Gaming-focused features are now often integrated into models with traditional designs or in alternative versions, while among brands that dedicate themselves exclusively to it, only REDMAGIC remains.
In proof of this, here is the announcement of Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition: cooling with an integrated fan is no longer the realm of gaming smartphones, but it also arrives for the elegant Camera Phone of the Chinese giant.
After the launch in China, Huawei Mate 80 Pro has surfaced also in a Global version. However, from the entire series only a single device arrived, probably to avoid unnecessary dispersion. In its homeland the latest generation has also marked the arrival of a new model for the company.
Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max is the true flagship of the family and now becomes even more feature-rich thanks to the Wind Edition. No drastic changes in terms of specifications, but the introduction of a cooling fan: this has been integrated directly inside the circular camera module, which indeed appears even bulkier than the standard Pro Max.
The design does not change and maintains the same refined style, however there is a single compromise. The quad camera yields to a triple-sensor setup, removing the standard telephoto lens. Consequently we have the 50 MP main (with variable aperture), a 40 MP ultra-wide, and the periscope telephoto; all accompanied by a multispectral sensor while each module is equipped with an RYYB filter.
The device will be announced in China on March 23 and we can assume it will not reach our latitudes. Nevertheless Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition represents an excellent exercise in style and usefulness, demonstrating once again how certain features can become part of the smartphone segment, without necessarily looking at the gaming world.
An announcement that lands at a perfect moment: according to a recent leak Redmi K80 Ultra will have a fan but Xiaomi 17T Pro (Global rebrand) will present a traditional design.
