The MWC 2026 gave us a glimpse of Honor Robot Phone, the brand’s first smartphone equipped with a camera with a robotic arm. The device was announced months ago and seemed to be just a concept, the kind of thing realized for technical virtuosity. However things are very different from what was imagined: the phone will hit the market, even though we’ll have to wait a little longer.
It is now confirmed that the device will not remain a prototype: Honor has revealed that this particular smartphone will be launched on the market, even though its initial availability will remain limited to China. Nevertheless, a global launch is likely planned, perhaps only in a few selected markets.
Sales were initially planned for March, but one of Honor’s executives stated that the debut has been postponed to further improve the imaging system. In the meantime, an insider reveals the possible release window: Honor Robot Phone should debut in its home market during the third quarter of 2026, i.e., between July and September.
The same source is in line with the company’s statements: it seems backstage there are important changes underway to the imaging hardware, including the integration of hardware-level PTZ stabilization. Additionally, the collaboration between the Chinese company and ARRI should enable further improvements in video and color.
