Battery technology is making giant steps: Chinese manufacturers have pushed on the accelerator, while rivals (such as Samsung) are moving behind the scenes. Meanwhile Honor stuns everyone with the new Blade silicon-carbon battery: not only an incremental improvement, but a true evolutionary leap that projects foldable smartphones straight into the future. How? By infusing the capacity of a power bank inside an ultrathin chassis!
The new Honor Blade battery is the solution we also find on board the latest Magic V6, fresh from its launch at the MWC in Barcelona. However, the Global version arrives depowered while the foldable will be able to fully unleash its capabilities in China: the domestic release is scheduled for March 10, and in this variant the battery will have no limitations.
The Chinese model will feature a 7,150 mAh unit, fully leveraging the new Honor Blade technology. This has been designed specifically for foldables above 7,000 mAh: the unit features a silicon content of over 32%, with an energy density of 985 Wh/L.
All this power has been packed into a truly slim body, with the thickness of a blade (hence the name) or of a playing card. Not surprisingly, for the promotional video they chose Rick Smith Jr., a famed illusionist and professional card thrower (holding several Guinness World Records).
The new unit stems from the collaboration between Honor and the manufacturer ATL. Regarding the Honor Magic V6 in Global version, launched at MWC 2026, there is also a Blade battery here but with a silicon content of 25%. The use of that flagship is limited to the Chinese market, as confirmed by the company via Weibo.
Anyway, despite the downgraded energy department, even our foldable will be a true beast since we are talking about a 6,660 mAh battery. All this with an ultra-thin body, 4 mm thick when open and 8.8 mm when closed.
