Speculations about the upcoming mid-range POCO smartphones continue, devices that for some Mi Fans could be even more interesting than Xiaomi’s flagship 17 and 17 Ultra (coming soon). Given the flood of leaks, it now seems clear that POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max are around the corner: an insider now provides a comprehensive overview of the specifications, “confirming” what had been in the air for some time.
Recently POCO X8 Pro was spotted on Geekbench: the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, with LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1. In terms of size, we are talking about a 6.59″ phone with 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, PWM Dimming at 3,840 Hz and up to 2,000 nits of brightness.
The display is expected to be an AMOLED TCL M10 unit while security would be entrusted to an optical fingerprint reader. The overview continues with a 6,500 mAh battery and support for 100W charging, also with 27W reverse charging.
On the camera side, we can expect a 50 MP IMX882 sensor with OIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide, together with a 20 MP front camera. As is now customary, in this case too we will have a phone that is dust- and water-resistant, rated IP69K.
Moving on to the bigger brother POCO X8 Pro Max, there would be several improvements to raise the bar over the base variant:
Two mid-range phones with different dimensions, both with the same design: a flat display with a punch-hole and, on the back, a dual camera housed in a capsule module – with the LED flash beside it (single for X8 Pro and dual for X8 Pro Max).
The new POCOs would simply be a rebrand of Redmi Turbo 5 and 5 Max, launched in China in January. We’re really at the tail end now and only the official confirmation is missing: at the start of the month Xiaomi’s official site even published the European prices, starting from €399.
