The smartphone market has accustomed us to a historic compromise: those seeking extreme battery life often have to accept bulky and heavy devices.
Tecno seems to want to challenge this convention with the launch of the new Pova Curve 2, a device that makes energy density its main strength, managing to fit a battery of a full 8,000 mAh into a chassis that is just 7.42 millimeters thick.
The look of the Pova Curve 2 has been revised compared to the previous generation, leaning on more modern lines and a refined build. The front is dominated by a curved AMOLED panel of 6.78 inches, characterized by a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate that reaches 144 Hz.
The display’s technical data are notable for the price range, with a declared peak brightness of 4,500 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass.
Despite the enormous battery capacity, the weight remains at 195 grams, a reasonable figure considering the autonomy promised. The build includes the IP64 certification for dust and splash resistance and an SGS drop-resistance certification, suggesting a focus on daily durability.
Under the hood, the device runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor. This marks a small step back compared to the previous model, which used the Dimensity 7300 Ultimate. The chip is supported by 8 GB of RAM LPDDR5X and up to 256 GB of internal UFS 2.2.
The real star of the spec sheet remains the 8,000 mAh battery. Although the capacity is top-tier for a phone this thickness, the charging power tops at 45 W; an adequate value, but it will require a bit longer to fill such a large cell.
The software side features Android 16 customized with the HiOS 16 interface. The company has guaranteed support for two major OS updates.
The rear camera setup is essential, consisting of a 50 MP main sensor paired with a 2 MP depth sensor, while the 13 MP front camera is housed in a punch-hole in the display.
On the connectivity front, Tecno has integrated dedicated chips (G1 and SE1) to improve signal reception and Wi-Fi. Completing the package are Dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, IR LEDs and a single speaker that amazingly carries the Dolby Atmos certification.
The Tecno Pova Curve 2 will not be available here; it will be sold in India from February 20 in the colors Mystic Purple, Melting Silver and Storm Titanium.
Prices at the current exchange rate stand at around €310 for the 8/128 GB variant and around €330 for the 8/256 GB model.
