Nothing Headphone (a) are coming—will they be the affordable, well-priced over-ear headphones?

After entering the over-ear headphone segment last year, over-ear headphones market, Nothing seems ready to recalibrate its audio strategy toward a far more accessible price tier.

If the debut model, the Headphone (1), had aimed high with premium positioning and a price around 300 euros, the latest rumors suggest a shift in direction aimed at democratizing the London brand’s sound.

The chatter has grown more insistent and detailed, outlining the profile of the future Nothing Headphone (a), a product that will sit in the mid-range with an aggressive price tag.

Information leaked thanks to the well-known leaker Billbil-kun indicates that the company founded by Carl Pei is laying the groundwork for an imminent launch, expected in March 2026.

The most notable news concerns undoubtedly the price list: the Nothing Headphone (a) should arrive in Europe at a price of 159 euros (149 pounds in the United Kingdom). This is an amount that represents almost a halving compared to the cost of the previously launched flagship model.

Naturally, such a price drop implies some compromises. Whereas the Headphone (1) boasted noble materials and a sophisticated build, the “(a)” model should adopt a body made predominantly of plastic.

However, those who know the brand’s history know that using cheaper materials does not necessarily translate into a banal design; Nothing has always made industrial aesthetics and transparency its signature, and it is reasonable to expect that this model will also maintain a strong visual identity.

Bold colors and dates to mark

Another distinctive aspect to emerge from leaks concerns the color palette. The Nothing Headphone (a) will not be limited to the classic sober tones, but will be offered in four variants: in addition to the ever-present white and black, they will also be available in yellow and pink.

Regarding timing, the schedule seems to have been set with precision. The official unveiling and the pre-order opening should take place on March 5, 2026.

Users won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the product, as the actual commercialization is scheduled for the following week, March 12, 2026.

This launch does not seem to be a one-off event: the headphones are expected to share the stage with the company’s new budget smartphones, the Nothing Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro.

What to expect from the Nothing Headphone (a)?

Although the design and price are now nearly certain, the real unknowns remain in the technical specifications. The previous model offered a highly capable active noise cancellation (ANC) and long battery life with fast charging.

It is likely that the Headphone (a) will retain the ANC, perhaps in a less sophisticated version, and that they will give up some advanced features to justify the price difference.

However, given the fierce competition in the 150-euro bracket, Nothing will have to ensure solid audio quality to stand out.

Therefore, it will not be a simple rebranding or a ‘lite’ version lacking soul, but a product designed to offer the essentials of the Nothing experience to a much wider audience.

We just have to wait until March 5 to see whether the price-performance trade-off will really be winning.
