The Chinese tech giant today announced the launch of the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 earbuds, presented in Madrid as Huawei’s new flagship of the audio ecosystem. The company has chosen to lean into an unprecedented integration between high-precision hardware and artificial intelligence algorithms, introducing the first noise-cancellation architecture with AI Dual-Engine.
The new FreeBuds Pro 5 are capable of isolating the user from the outside world through a radically new approach. Going beyond the limits of traditional noise reduction, the AI Dual-Engine system uses an ultra-linear dual-magnet driver and an ultra-thin micro planar driver that operate as independent and coordinated motors.
While the first handles eliminating persistent low-frequency hum, the second neutralizes high-pitched and sudden sounds, ensuring an improvement in noise-cancellation performance of up to 220% compared to the previous generation. This precision is made possible by an AI MIMO model that processes sound samples up to 400,000 times per second, generating anti-noise waves with near-instantaneous reactivity.
In addition to silence, Huawei has improved the quality of musical listening by integrating the L2HC 4.0 codec technology, which supports high-resolution lossless audio up to 2.3 Mbps.
To suit the tastes of every user, four different sound profiles are available: HUAWEI SOUND, ranging from balanced settings to those optimized for voice or for classic and bass-rich genres. Call handling also benefits from this evolution, thanks to a three-microphone system powered by a bone-conduction sensor capable of isolating the human voice even in environments with noise up to 100 dB or in the presence of strong wind.
Smart features include adaptive volume, which automatically adjusts the sound level based on the environment, and Awareness mode, designed to maintain awareness of surrounding sounds without removing the earbuds.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the new Star Oval Design introduces refined lines inspired by nature, with a charging case 5.5% more compact than before and equipped with an invisible hinge. Materials range from the smooth finish of the Sand, White and Gray variants to the premium ecological vegan leather of the blue version. It also features dust and water resistance rated IP57.
The advanced connectivity completes the package, allowing simultaneous connection to two devices, such as a smartphone and a laptop. The Audio Sharing feature also lets you share listening with a second pair of Huawei earbuds.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 earbuds debut in Italy at a price of €199 in the official store, with the possibility of obtaining a €50 discount by redeeming the code “AGIZFBPRO5” (valid until April 5). And to learn more, check out our review!
