These photos reveal the design of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5, but there’s bad news

2026 kicks off under the banner of Xiaomi MIX Fold 5, but with bad news: the flagship foldable will never see the light of day, but this doesn’t mean the foldable series is at an end.

While waiting to learn more about the future model of the lineup, here is a series of leaked photos showing a prototype of MIX Fold 5, with a design quite different from its predecessor.

The current MIX Fold 4 features a large rectangular camera module, with a Quad Camera equipped with a double telephoto lens — one of which is periscopic. The successor Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 would opt for a design change, with a design defined as Visor.

The flagship – at least in prototype form – presents a capsule-shaped module placed horizontally, containing a triad of sensors. The final look echoes both the Google Pixel series and the iPhone Air 17, but clearly we are talking about a device that still needs refinement.

The rear panel features a very pronounced mirror finish, but it isn’t clear whether this is an effect intended for the final model or not. The back could be polished ceramic or glass with a mirrored coating; for now it isn’t clear. The chassis is metal, but the final version would probably have been titanium to raise the quality bar.

Comunque in dispositivo è stato cancellato, o almeno così si vocifera. Al suo posto arriverà un nuovo top di gamma pieghevole, pare con il nome di Xiaomi 17 Fold. Quindi i dispositivi della categoria non dovrebbero fare più parte della famiglia MIX, ma entrare nella linea principale.

Questo non vuol dire che la gamma sperimentale della casa di Lei Jun cesserà di esistere: a fine anno sono emersi nuovi dettagli su Xiaomi MIX 5, che dovrebbe fare capolino nel corso dell’anno con una fotocamera sotto il display dotata dello sblocco 3D.
