What will be the new features of HyperOS 3.1? The first changelog reveals them

Recently Xiaomi announced the release of the new beta version of its software, which should debut in the final release as HyperOS 3.1. The first supported smartphones have started receiving the experimental update via OTA (in China), and consequently here comes a first changelog revealing the upcoming features.

These are the new features of HyperOS 3.1: here’s the first unofficial changelog

There are many new features in the new version of HyperOS 3, although mostly they are improvements and optimizations for some of the interface features. It is impossible not to notice the new style of Recent Apps, which mirrors that of iOS (with stacked cards): this is a feature that has been spotted for a long time and even requested by users themselves, which will debut for everyone with HyperOS 3.1.

Also the Super Island (called HyperIsland in the Global version) gains several improvements in usability (with a dedicated settings page) and in aesthetics, thanks to new visual effects.

  • Stacked layout style: new visual organization of the elements in Recent Apps;
  • Light effects for the Super Island: added glow effects to the playback progress bar in the Super Island;
  • Advanced Material: now adapts to a wider range of use scenarios;
  • Advanced AI suggestions optimization: improves system suggestions via AI;
  • One-step Access optimization: faster, smoother and more immediate access;
  • Super Island optimization: general improvements to performance and aesthetics;
  • Super Island settings page: Added a dedicated section in the settings (app details);
  • Redesigned multi-volume adjustment: new interface for separate volume control;
  • Bluetooth state memory: the system now remembers the connection state of Bluetooth devices;
  • Lock screen/wallpaper editing: more comprehensive and deeper editing tools;
  • Optimized desktop layout: added new folder sizes (2×1, 1×2 and others), drag-and-drop resizing support, and page scrolling within folders.

Note that the new beta is being released to a limited number of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones (in China): here you can find the full list. The stable release is expected to debut in February, but for now Lei Jun’s company has not yet provided exact timings.
