The tug-of-war of rumors about price increases seems to have come to an end, to the relief of Samsung enthusiasts. The head of the company himself has confirmed that the next flagship models in the Galaxy S26 series could face a price increase, refuting rumors that surfaced just a few days ago.
The general climate is not the best due to the RAM crisis: the rise in memory chip prices has already affected certain brands and product categories, but the phenomenon will become more widespread over the course of 2026.
Speaking is none other than TM Roh, co-CEO of Samsung Electonics and head of the mobile division. The executive spoke with Reuters at the opening of CES 2026 – which will be held from January 6 to 9 – revealing some behind-the-scenes details. Samsung is not immune to RAM shortages, despite the company having a dedicated semiconductor division.
Additionally, the problems are not limited to smartphones and tablets but also to the rest of consumer electronics products, such as TVs and appliances. Consequently, Samsung does not exclude the possibility of having to raise the prices of Galaxy devices precisely due to RAM price hikes.
Entering even more into the matter, it seems that memory chip suppliers are no longer offering long-term agreements. The same would apply even to Samsung Foundry (the semiconductor division): even in-house they would be leaning toward short-term contracts with the mobile division, excluding any special treatment.
These details make the future of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series even murkier: if just a few days ago some rumors were comforting users, now the same company is forecasting a price increase.
