We’re only at the very start of 2026, but Apple’s leak machine has been in action for some time. The current series has been in stores for only a few months, yet all attention is fixed on the next generation, arriving in the second half of the year.
Among the novelties would also be the farewell to the Dynamic Island, in favor of a Face ID under the display. A Chinese insider reveals the dimensions of the displays of the iPhone 18 series and sheds light on which models will undergo a front-end restyle.
The launch of the iPhone 18 family — or at least part of it — will take place by the end of the year. Meanwhile the rumors do not appear to slow down, and the latest additions come from the Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, who reveals the display sizes of the entire family.
Based on what has emerged, iPhone 18 would have a LTPO display of 6.27″ with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and Dynamic Island to host the cameras and Face ID. The leaker also cites the upcoming iPhone Air 2, with the same characteristics as the base model but with a diagonal of 6.55″.
For the bigger brothers iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, these should represent the real revolution. The displays should be LTPO solutions of 6.27″ and 6.86″, always with a 120 Hz refresh rate; however both would have the system Face ID under the display signaling the end of the Dynamic Island.
The US company would be testing a special glass that would allow infrared sensors to function without distortion through the display. However, it is not clear whether there will be a completely clean panel, or with a slim punch-hole for the front camera.
There are still many months until the debut of the iPhone 18 series, but rumors certainly do not lack. Regarding the release there are various voices about a possible staggered launch: iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could see the light in September, along with iPhone Fold – Apple’s much-talked-about foldable. The debut of iPhone 18 and 18e would be expected toward spring 2027.
The heart of the series will be the new SoC A20 Pro, for the first time manufactured with the 2 nm process by TSMC. An increase in performance and greater energy efficiency is expected; moreover the chipset could be built with the WMCM architecture.
In terms of photography there is talk of the introduction of the mechanical variable aperture, at least for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The price remains an unknown, amid rumors of price increases and other more optimistic ones.
