2026 will be a revolutionary year for smartphones, at least as far as the Chinese market is concerned, with the launch of devices featuring 10,000 mAh super batteries.
This isn’t an absolute novelty and those who roam the rugged world know it well, but the real revolution lies entirely in the design. No more gigantic devices but traditional phones equipped with silicon-carbon batteries of colossal size.
The next novelty coming is Honor Power 2 and now a Chinese operator has practically revealed everything!
After finishing 2025 with the gaming phones Honor Win and Win RT, the Asian company is gearing up to do it again. These two models, in fact, feature mega 10,000 mAh batteries: a significant milestone for traditional smartphones.
The first smartphone of 2026 equally imposing will be Honor Power 2, the brand’s new battery phone. The dimensions of Power 2 remain almost unchanged despite the jump from 8,000 mAh of the first chapter to the beauty of 10,080 mAh.
In recent hours the operator China Telecom has published the device’s specification page, giving us a complete overview. This, together with Honor’s confirmations, allows us to sketch the phone’s full technical specifications.
The onboard chipset has officially been named as Dimensity 8500 Elite: it is still unreleased but Geekbench lets us take a look at the performance and CPU configuration. Honor Power 2 will arrive with an IP69K-rated chassis, against dust and water: a big step forward compared to the previous device.
The date for the new Power 2 is set for January 5, currently only in China. Still, it is highly likely that the device and the Power generation line will never reach our latitudes, unless there is a huge battery-side compromise – or a strong price increase.
In this in-depth look we explained why global smartphones come to us with batteries trimmed compared to Chinese models. Unfortunately we will continue like this for a long time to come, unless there is a sudden change in legislation.
