Not only Samsung, another brand is preparing its response to the first iPhone Fold

The industry is buzzing in anticipation of what could be the most significant move in years from Cupertino, with the highly anticipated entry of Apple into the foldable smartphones foldable smartphones.

With the increasingly insistent rumors that see the Cupertino giant ready to launch its iPhone Fold by the end of the year, the entire sector is reorganizing to avoid being caught unprepared.

Although media attention initially focused on Samsung’s response, the long-standing leader in the industry, new rumors suggest that Honor is also planning a radical change in strategy to directly challenge Apple.

Honor ready to take on Apple with a wide-format foldable

The most recent reports indicate that Apple would have opted for a design featuring a decidedly large internal screen, moving away from the narrower and elongated proportions that have characterized versions from other brands of these devices. This choice seems to have triggered a chain reaction among Android manufacturers.

Samsung, according to rumors, would be developing a new Galaxy Z “Wide Fold” specifically to counter the rival’s specs.

However, it is not the only company to seek to guard this emerging niche. Also Honor seems intent on reshaping its offering to align with this new standard, betting everything on a broader, horizontal visual experience capable of maximizing productivity and multimedia consumption.

How is Honor’s strategy changing?

Rumors from China, and reported by reputable sources such as Huawei Central, sketch a story of transformation for the Chinese brand.

It seems Honor has decided to completely rethink its roadmap for the year in response to the imminent launch of Apple’s foldable.

The new device could replace the Magic Vs series, which so far has represented the brand’s most affordable “book-style” alternative.

The drive to compete in the highest, most technologically advanced tier appears to have pushed the company to sacrifice, at least temporarily, portfolio diversification.

In support of this, the source claims there is not even a plan for a successor to the Magic V Flip 2 in 2026, signaling a potential pause for the clamshell line.

An increasingly competitive scenario

If these rumors prove true, Honor would join a fast-growing trend that sees width as the new battleground.

Besides the already mentioned Samsung and the Apple unknown, OPPO could also enter the field with its Find N7, helping saturate a market that is decisively moving toward wider and more comfortable displays.

Note that we are still in the realm of speculation. None of the companies involved has officially confirmed the existence of such devices with these specifications.

However, Honor has already set a date for the public and press for the launch of the Magic V6, scheduled just before the start of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. It remains to be seen whether this will be the model to carry the banner of the new wide design or if the company has further surprises in store.
