Control the pressure during extraction and, once the coffee is ready, receive feedback on what to correct for the next cup. This is one of the features with which Xiaomi presents its new semi-automatic espresso machine, now available for pre-order in China (and able to tempt even us Westerners).

The pressure curve analysis system monitors the extraction in real time and, at the end, provides feedback with suggestions to improve the result. A neat feature that could interest the most demanding users, looking for new ways to perfect their coffee preparation – perhaps with a small smart helper.
Regarding the various features, the pressure is handled by a ULKA pump that reaches up to 19 bars at peak. The machine uses two pumps and two heating blocks: in this way it can extract the espresso and steam the milk at the same time, without the waits and temperature variations typical of single-boiler machines.
The temperature is controlled by five NTC sensors and by a PID algorithm, to keep it steady during extraction. The integrated grinder has 420 stainless steel conical burrs and an ionic anti-static system. During grinding, an integrated scale measures the coffee output in real time.
The automatic milk frother is programmed for five types of milk, including plant-based alternatives. For cold beverages there is a separate water circuit, with a low-pressure impulse extraction and at room temperature.
The controls switch from a rotary knob with color TFT display, while the Mijia app allows you to adjust nine extraction parameters and download over 100 recipes. Included are a 58 mm professional-style portafilter with a heat-insulating walnut handle and an independent hot water dispenser.
Mijia Smart Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine Pro is available for pre-order at 4,439 yuan (about €580), against a list price of 4,999 yuan (about €655 at the exchange rate). For now the debut has happened only in China while for Italian users we remind you of the availability of an espresso machine in the official store, offered at €99.9.
