Amazfit has officially announced T-Rex Dual Solar, the world’s first AMOLED smartwatch with a dual-sided solar charging system: the photovoltaic panels are on both the watch face and the back of the device, both capable of extending the battery life during outdoor activities.
Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar: design, display and solar charging
The case is made from Grade 5 titanium with scratch-resistant sapphire glass, for a build described as military-grade. The display is a 1.32″ AMOLED panel, with a peak brightness up to 3,000 nits to stay legible even in direct sunlight.
The dual solar charging system captures energy from both the front panel surrounding the display and a rear octagonal glass-ceramic plate, twice the size of the front panel: according to Amazfit, three hours per day at 50,000 lux can add up to nine extra days of autonomy via the front panel alone.
The stated battery life reaches up to 25 days in typical usage, while with GPS active in a more precise mode it drops to 41 continuous hours. The solar charging, as mentioned, allows to further extend these values during longer adventures.
HybridCharge and compatibility with major sports platforms
On the sports front, Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar introduces HybridCharge, a feature that combines training load, recovery and daily fatigue into a single indicator.
The device is compatible with platforms such as TrainingPeaks, Runna and Intervals.icu, in addition to syncing workouts with Strava, and can be paired with the Amazfit Helio Strap band for more complete recovery data.
Offline maps, LiveShare and 10ATM resistance
The GPS suite includes preloaded color maps, route planning with elevation data, storage of up to 100 routes with automatic rerouting, and the LiveShare feature for real-time location sharing. The smartwatch is certified for water resistance up to 10 ATM and also includes a flashlight and an SOS signal.
