Galaxy Z Fold 8, sales soar after the launch of iPhone Duo

The launch of iPhone Duo, instead of pushing customers toward the new Apple device, seems to have given a boost to Galaxy Z Fold 8: according to data reported by South Korean media, Samsung’s foldable sales rose by 10% in the reference week in the domestic market – and they attempt to explain the reasons.

According to reports from Asian media, some of the customers who were waiting to see what Apple would offer chose the Samsung foldable instead.

The price factor plays a central role: iPhone Duo costs 2,390,000 won, equivalent to about €1,513, while Galaxy Z Fold 8 stands at 2,280,000 won, about €1,444. Availability also weighs on the decision: Galaxy Z Fold 8 is available immediately, while the iPhone Duo will reach the Korean market only on October 16.

In addition to price and availability times, Korean media also cite the physical characteristics of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, described as thinner and lighter than the Apple rival, a factor that would have weighed on the decision of some customers waiting for news from Cupertino.

It should be noted that the +10% figure refers specifically to the South Korean market in the week under review, with no indications of a similar trend in other countries.

Anyway Galaxy Z Fold 8 is objectively a success, as evidenced by sales rising by 50% in Europe; it remains to be seen what the users’ response will be to Apple’s first foldable.
