iPhone 18 Pro Max will have an incredible battery life, with the battery capacity growing significantly

Recent rumors indicate a significant increase in battery capacity for the highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro Max by Apple, with values that exceed previous generations and stand in clear advantage over direct competition.

Since the days when Apple users were forced to constantly search for a power outlet, the company has made enormous improvements, now offering smartphones that are extremely durable, designed to meet the needs of those who spend several hours a day with the screen on.

Power users who heavily use their smartphone need devices capable of handling high workloads. These consumers typically gravitate toward the very high-end models like the Pro Max or Ultra variants, precisely because they offer the largest batteries.

If we look to the past, iPhone owners did not enjoy this calm. In 2014, a famous advertising campaign for the Samsung Galaxy S5 definedApple customers as people constantly glued to the walls of airports in search of power outlets.

Since then more than 12 years have passed, and hardware and software evolution has erased this reputation, turning battery life into one of Cupertino’s smartphones’ major strengths.

With the official presentation expected for next Wednesday, leaked information suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be equipped with a battery whose capacity will range between 5.391 mAh and 5.567 mAh.

The higher value should be reserved for the American version of the device, equipped exclusively with eSIM support. This is a notable leap compared to the previous record held by the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which stopped at 5.088 mAh.

If these data were confirmed, the upgrade would translate into a gain between 6% and 9%, ensuring solid support for prolonged use of the device.

The market comparison

Historically, rival devices could boast clearly higher numbers. Think of 2017, when the iPhone X arrived with 2,716 mAh, facing the 3,520 mAh of the Pixel 2 XL and the 3,500 mAh of the Galaxy S8+.

Apple managed to compensate for such technical variance by masterfully optimizing the interaction between the processor and the iOS operating system.

Today the situation is different: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery and the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL reaches 5,200 mAh, figures lower than those expected for Apple’s new top-of-the-line.

However, capacity is not everything. Last year, despite the larger capacity, specific tests showed that the Galaxy S26 outperformed the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The real challenge is now shifting to chemical compositions. While Western brands continue to rely on lithium-ion, Chinese manufacturers are integrating silicon-carbon cells, thinner and lighter.
