After the debut of Galaxy S25 Edge in May 2025, Samsung’s ultrathin line remained on hold: the S26 Edge never arrived during 2026, as we had already seen in January when internal marketing materials leaked for the Colombian market listing only S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, with no reference to the Edge variant.
The commercial performance of the first S25 Edge would not have convinced the brand, but now talk is of a possible “return”: according to two leaks published separately on X, Samsung would be working on Galaxy S27 Edge, expected no earlier than 2027.
There is, however, an obvious problem from the outset: the two leaks describe two different devices, and thus should be taken with caution, as the information is already in conflict with each other.
Two leaks, two opposing specifications for the future Samsung Galaxy S27 Edge

The first leaker, the account @kro_roe, describes a device with a 5.8-inch display, a 4,300 mAh battery, and a thickness under 4 mm. The second, the account @SPYGO19726, instead talks about a much larger display, 6.8 inches, with a thickness of 5.4 mm.
The two versions are not reconcilable: on the one hand a model even more compact and thinner than the current Edge lineup, on the other a device that would be closer to the Ultra tier in terms of screen size.
The unresolved battery issue, and the possible silicon-carbon solution
Whatever the real configuration, the knot Samsung must untie remains the same that had penalized the previous model: Galaxy S25 Edge, with its 6.7-inch display and a thickness of 5.8 mm, had indeed suffered from insufficient autonomy (also given the 3,900 mAh battery), a limit that, according to rumors thus far, would have weighed on sales and failed to meet Samsung’s expectations.
To avoid repeating the same mistake, the company could push silicon-carbon batteries, technology already adopted on Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, capable of delivering higher energy density for the same occupied space.
The launch of the Galaxy S27 Edge, again according to the leaks, is expected around May 2027, about four months after the debut of the Galaxy S27 series, about which the first renders are already circulating and rumors of a possible return of the Exynos chip on the Galaxy S27 Ultra after five years of absence.
