I sold on Subito, but I can’t receive the money: the TuttoSubito bug that blocks payments

I’ve been using Subito.it for a very long time and, over the years, I’ve completed several transactions without particular problems. In the last few days, however, I’ve encountered a decidedly anomalous situation that concerns TuttoSubito: identity verification and, above all, the possibility of receiving payments for completed sales. And the most worrying thing is that, searching online, I discovered I wasn’t the only one having this problem.

The dynamic is fairly simple: I regularly closed some sales using TuttoSubito; the buyers received the products and the transactions were completed. The problem arrived at the moment Subito should have transferred the money to me. From that moment I entered a sort of identity verification loop from which, at least for now, it seems impossible to exit. And after almost a week, several support requests and numerous attempts made from different devices and browsers, the situation remains blocked.

TuttoSubito, blocked payments and identity verification in a loop: the problem preventing receiving the money

How TuttoSubito payments normally work

Before telling you what’s happening, it’s useful to understand how the system should work. With TuttoSubito, when a sale is completed, the buyer’s payment is initially held by the platform. After delivery and confirmation of receipt, the buyer gives the OK, Subito unlocks the payment and transfers it to the seller.

According to the official documentation, the money should be visible in the seller’s bank account or PayPal within 3-6 business days from the confirmation of receipt, depending on the bank’s processing times. To receive the money you can link a bank account via IBAN and BIC/SWIFT or a PayPal account and, of course, the personal data must match those of the account holder. And it’s precisely here that, in my case, something has stopped working.

My IBAN disappeared from Subito

After the first sale I received a notification from Subito indicating that the transfer had not completed successfully. Checking my account I noticed something quite strange: the bank account I had previously linked (and used several times on the platform) no longer appeared among the payment methods.

So I simply tried to re-enter it. Going to the Settings > Payments section, I enter the bank account details, including IBAN and BIC/SWIFT, and the procedure proceeds normally up to the OTP authentication stage. I enter the code I received and confirm, but on a smartphone the message “An error occurred” consistently appears and the procedure is not completed.

Thinking it might be a bug related to the smartphone, I repeated everything from a computer. I also tried two different browsers, precisely to rule out issues related to cookies, cache or browser incompatibilities. The result is slightly different, but the substance does not change.

The infinite loop of “Verify your identity”

From PC the process reaches a point where Subito states that it is necessary to verify my identity. I proceed with the verification, but at the end the payment method is not saved. Returning to the settings I am again asked to verify and I essentially find myself back at square one.

The result is therefore a kind of loop: I perform the verification, enter the account, return to the settings and I am again asked to verify my identity. I can repeat the procedure as many times as I want, but I never manage to reach the point where the bank account is actually linked to the account.

And this is where the real problem arises: Subito asks me to verify the payment data to receive the money, but it’s the same platform that won’t let me complete the necessary procedure to do so.

With every sale I receive the same email from Subito

Meanwhile I’ve completed other sales and the situation has repeated itself. For every sale I received a new email from Subito regarding the non-receipt of the amount, in which it is explained that the payment was returned, probably due to an error in the data entered.

Subito then invites me to log into my Reserved Area and check in Settings > Payments that the data are correct, paying particular attention to the match between personal data and account holder, IBAN and BIC. In the same communication it also indicates the possibility of using PayPal and asks me, after updating, to reply to the email to allow a new payment resent.

And this is exactly what I tried to do. The problem is that I cannot complete the operation that Subito itself asks me to perform. Not because I don’t know my IBAN, not because the data are incorrect or because the account is in someone else’s name, but simply because the system won’t let me finish the verification and save the payment method.

Five support requests and still no solution

At this point I have naturally contacted support. To date I have opened 5 different reports, describing in detail the problem, the attempts made and the platform’s behavior. I have also replied directly to the emails related to failed payments, exactly as Subito itself requested.

As of this writing, almost a week has passed and, beyond confirmation of the opening of the tickets, I have not yet received a response explaining what the problem is or how to solve it.

And this is probably the most frustrating part of the story. I’m not trying to modify any particular account data or use an abnormal payment method: I’m simply trying to enter a normal bank account in the name of the same person to whom the account is registered. But the process never reaches the end.

DAC7 involved? I filled that out too, but nothing changed

In an attempt to understand whether the block could be due to some missing tax verification, I also completed the DAC7 form requested by the platform. But what exactly is it?

DAC7 is a European directive that introduces reporting obligations for managers of digital platforms. In short, platforms like Subito must collect certain information about sellers and, in cases provided by the regulation, share it with tax authorities. Subito explains in its documentation that the form is requested when a seller reaches certain thresholds during the calendar year.

In the case of TuttoSubito, the thresholds indicated by the platform are 29 sales or 2,000 euros earned in a calendar year: it’s enough to meet at least one of the two conditions for the form to be requested. Among the data required may be personal and tax information and data relating to the account used to receive the proceeds of the sales.

In my case I also completed this procedure, thinking that a DAC7 verification might be the reason preventing the association of the account. Nothing changed: the identity verification loop continues exactly as before.

I’m not the only one: on Reddit the same problem is reported

And this is where the story becomes even more interesting. Searching online for a possible solution I came across a discussion published in the Subito subreddit in which another user describes a problem practically identical to mine: inability to enter IBAN or PayPal, a procedure that does not save the payment method and keeps returning to the identity verification screen.

The similarity with what is happening to my account is striking. In that case too the user reports having verified identity multiple times, having personal data matching the account holder and having tried both IBAN and PayPal, without being able to receive the sale money. Even the experience with support seems very similar, with several requests sent without arriving at a quick concrete solution.

There is, however, one more important detail: that report dates back to about three months ago. If the malfunction I’m experiencing today actually has the same origin as the one described on Reddit, it means that three months later the problem has not been resolved. We cannot know if it presents itself continuously, whether it concerns only certain account types, or if in the meantime it has been fixed and later reappeared. What we can say is that three months later another seller faces essentially the same behavior.

And at this point a deliberately provocative question naturally arises: could Subito be okay with payments remaining blocked longer than expected?

It’s a legitimate question, especially when there is a total absence of customer support and the money from a sale has already been paid by the buyer but cannot reach the seller. However, it’s important to separate a provocation from what we can actually prove. TuttoSubito’s terms specify that, while the transaction is ongoing, the amount paid by the buyer is held in a guaranteed deposit account managed by the platform’s payment service provider. The same platform documentation explains that, once the conditions are met, the payment is released and transferred to the seller.

We therefore have no evidence to claim that Subito directly profits from money that remains blocked, nor that this bug is maintained intentionally. We do not know, for example, whether any interest earned on temporarily deposited sums exists, who it belongs to or what the economic agreements are between Subito and the provider that actually processes the payments. Claiming otherwise without evidence would be incorrect.

Nevertheless, there remains a very concrete problem: the longer the procedure stays blocked, the longer the seller remains unable to access the money from a sale already concluded. And it is precisely for this reason that it would be important for Subito to clarify not only how to solve the bug, but also where the sums are kept when transfers fail for weeks, what the maximum timelines are in these cases and what guarantees the seller has.

Especially considering that this isn’t a recently posted report: someone described essentially the same problem about three months ago. And finding oneself today in the same loop inevitably makes one wonder why, after all this time, a malfunction capable of preventing a seller from receiving their money could still be present.

TuttoSubito does not allow entering the IBAN or PayPal: what to do?

At the moment, unfortunately, I still don’t have a definitive solution to offer. But I can share everything I’ve already tried: I checked the consistency of my personal data, verified IBAN and BIC/SWIFT, repeated the process on smartphone and computer, tried different browsers, completed the DAC7 form, replied to emails related to failed transfers and opened three support tickets.

The result, for now, is always the same: the payment method is not linked and the process keeps bringing me back to identity verification.

I will update this article as soon as Subito resolves the issue

Let me be clear on one point: this article does not intend to assign responsibility that we cannot know at the moment, nor claim that all TuttoSubito users are experiencing this malfunction. It is simply the documented account of what is happening to my account and of a problem that, judging by the testimonies I found online, has affected other users as well.

What we know is that my sales were completed regularly, Subito tried to make the transfers, these did not go through and the platform asks me to verify the payment details. At the same time, however, a problem in the verification procedure prevents me from properly adding the method needed to receive them.

I have completed the DAC7, checked the data, tried from smartphone and computer with different browsers, replied to the communications received and opened three reports. After almost a week, I am still stuck at the same point.

Of course I will continue to follow the story and I will update this article as soon as Subito responds or I finally manage to unlock identity verification and the payments. I will do so especially to help those who might find themselves in the same situation: if you arrived here looking for “TuttoSubito blocked payment”, “Subito identity verification not working” or “Subito won’t let me enter IBAN or PayPal”, you are very likely facing the same problem.

And if I manage to figure out how to solve it, you will find in this article all the steps needed to do it.
