POCO F9 Pro and Ultra: the new flagship models revealed in advance

POCO, the Xiaomi sub-brand that built its identity around the formula “top-of-the-line specs, mid-range price”, is preparing for a new chapter with the F9 series.

Before any official confirmation, the German site WinFuture published in exclusive preview the full specifications of POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra, the European versions of what in China are known as Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max.

On this page we are collecting and will update everything we know so far about the two models, always distinguishing between rumors and official details, as we await the debut.

Design e Display

Just as with POCO F8 Pro and F8 Ultra, the new models feature audio optimizations in collaboration with Bose. The flagship POCO F9 Ultra goes further, with a rear speaker featuring an LED ring. The two phones are equipped with a large camera island housing the camera module; on the front we have flat displays with a center-positioned punch-hole.

Regarding the display, POCO F9 Pro would have a Plastic-OLED panel of 6.59″ with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 185 Hz, while POCO F9 Ultra would rise to 6.85″, with a 2K resolution and the same high refresh rate.

Both displays, manufactured by the Chinese supplier TCL CSOT, would be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, with a metal frame and a rear glass-fiber-reinforced plastic shell.

On the durability front, the phones would carry IP69 certification, a stricter standard than the more common IP68, not a given on devices positioned as an affordable alternative to flagship phones.

Both the F9 Pro and the F9 Ultra would feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, clocked up to 4.6 GHz: a choice that allows POCO to offer identical performance across the entire range and differentiate the two models mainly in display, battery, and cameras.

On the battery life front, the F9 Pro would feature a 6,330 mAh battery, while the F9 Ultra would even reach 8,050 mAh. On both models, fast charging would reach 100W, with support for the USB Power Delivery standard, to ensure compatibility with even third-party chargers.

Wireless charging support remains uncertain, present on the Redmi K100 Pro and Pro Max – but not mentioned in the recent rumors about the POCO models.

Fotocamera

The camera system would include main sensors of 200 MP while the ultra-wide and the telephoto would be the ones changing. In the Pro model there would be an 8 MP ultra-wide and a macro telephoto; with the Ultra version it would level up with a 50 MP ultra-wide and a periscopic telephoto, still 50 MP.

Software

The source does not specify software details, but we assume the presence of HyperOS 3 with Android 16. Recently Xiaomi announced the latest version of its interface (HyperOS 4) but for now only in China and with a beta release. For the stable version and for the Global release, we will have to wait.

Prezzo e uscita

According to the European prices reported by WinFuture, POCO F9 Pro would start from 799€ for the 12/256GB configuration, while POCO F9 Ultra would reach 999€ with 16/512GB of memory.

Given the prices we can consider POCO’s period as an “economical” brand finished: the F8 Pro started at €519.9 and the F8 Ultra at €699.9, figures that now seem like only a mirage due to the price increases caused by the memory shortage.

At the moment there isn’t a precise release date, but it’s clear that the debut is almost around the corner. Furthermore, rumors refer to Europe and, consequently, also to our country. There’s nothing left but to wait, but given the volume of leaks, we are confident of a launch in September.
