Honor nears the 12,000 mAh milestone: a record-breaking battery!

Despite the pros and cons, work on current silicon-carbon batteries continues on multiple fronts. In Italy and Europe it’s a ‘limited’ phenomenon (we’re not yet at the over 10,000 mAh seen in China), but Chinese companies are moving ahead quickly.

Periodically a new phone arrives capable of turning the tide and the latest milestone reached is 11,000 mAh, thanks to Honor. However the brand aims high, and according to the latest leaks, a beast of as much as 12,000 mAh is in the works!

Honor is testing a Battery Phone with 12,000 mAh: will it be the new frontier of smartphones?

The introduction of silicon-carbon technology has been revolutionary for the mobile sector. In a very short time we have witnessed the release of devices with increasingly capacious batteries, true Battery Phones but without the bulk in terms of size (a historical limit of the category).

The use of new materials has allowed achieving very high capacities, with minimal impact on the thickness of phones. The result is a generation of smartphones equipped with a super battery, but with designs and dimensions of traditional devices.

In June, Honor launched in China the model X80 Pro Max: on board an 11,000 mAh unit, a record for the company. According to the insider, the company would already be working on an even more capable solution: tests on a 12,000 mAh smartphone would already have begun, with a prototype production.

Clearly this is the typical capacity, while the battery would have a nominal capacity of 11,790 mAh (43.86 Wh). Unfortunately the leaker does not reveal the device’s identity, though the two likely candidates are: the upcoming Honor Wind 2, flagship with a giant battery, or Honor Power 3, the new model in the Battery Phone line.
