Samsung is preparing an expansion of its wearable line, introducing a new product that will be strategically positioned between affordable smartbands and mid-range watches.
The most significant novelty concerns the operating system: the new device seems indeed determined to abandon Wear OS by Google in favor of an RTOS (Real-Time Operating System).
This choice will allow extended battery life and competitive pricing, while keeping the essential health and activity tracking features, confirming the brand’s aim to cover every market segment.
Samsung Galaxy Aero: the unreleased project revealed by code

Recent analyses of the source code of the Galaxy Wearable app have surfaced concrete traces of a new smartwatch, currently identified by developers with the codename Galaxy Aero.
The textual references explicitly classify it as “galaxy_rtos_watch“, confirming in first place the presence of a touch screen, though the geometric shape of the dial remains an absolute unknown.
It is not yet clear whether the company will opt for a circular design, in keeping with the traditional Watch family, or whether it will prefer rectangular or square lines.
How will it be positioned within the lineup?
What is evident is the clear intention of management to further diversify their offering, filling the gap between the different product categories already on global shelves.
The sales strategy appears very well defined. The new watch will be placed in a price tier slightly higher than the upcoming Galaxy Fit 4, but will remain clearly more affordable than the Galaxy Watch FE.
Efficiency and basic sensors
The adoption of an RTOS, typically used on more basic devices, brings with it huge practical advantages. Without the need to run software as demanding as Google’s, the watch will be able to rely on significantly less power-hungry processors.
This translates into an autonomy estimated at at least 7 days on a single charge.
The technical package will include the traditional health-tracking sensors, such as the heart-rate monitor for heartbeat, the accelerometer, and the gyroscope.
