Redmi K100 Pro will have a special Snapdragon and a phosphorescent back cover

The month of August will be led by Xiaomi, thanks to the debut of some novelties not to be underestimated. Redmi K100 Pro and Pro Max are on track to arrive in China (on August 11) but it’s wise to keep an eye on them, given the precedents.

Typically the K series makes its international debut through POCO, so this Redmi pair could also find space on our shores. While waiting for the launch event, let’s take a look at the new confirmations thanks to the official teasers.

Redmi K100 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite Series V (Gen 5), the new Qualcomm chipset

The first novelty concerns the heart of Redmi K100 Pro: the device will be the first equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Series V (Gen 5). It is Xiaomi itself to confirm the SoC sigla, namely SM8850-1-AB, already spotted in the past weeks and linked precisely to an “economic” variant of the last Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship chip.

In terms of specs we are looking at an identical solution: same architecture and clock frequencies, also the NPU, ISP, 5G modem and more. The only differences seem to concern the Adreno 840 GPU, with 12 MB of cache (instead of 18 MP) and 8 compute units integrated (instead of 12).

The SoC has scored over 4 million points on AnTuTu, so we’re still talking about top-of-the-line performance.

Firefly Chasing Light

The other novelty announced via Xiaomi’s social channels is the Firefly Chasing Light color, a Redmi K100 Pro variant characterized by a green shade and a back shell with phosphorescent properties. With daylight the phone shows a bright green color, but in the dark the phosphorescent layer activates.

Additionally, it’s possible to use a light source to “draw” on the back cover of the phone. Above you can watch the official video showing this particular variant.

While the Pro would rely on a 6.67″ diagonal display, the brother would have a 6.9″ unit. POCO F9 Pro and F9 Pro Max

As happened with the current generation, the new flagship for China should also arrive in Europe. However there will be a brand and name change, and they are expected as POCO F9 Pro and Pro Max. Certainly we can expect some changes on the technical side, especially regarding the battery capacity.

Regarding the release window there are no certainties yet but it is not to be ruled out that a presentation could take place by the end of the year.
