Samsung seems ready to enter the open-ear earbud segment with a completely new product. The leaked images from an official company app actually show what should be the future Galaxy Buds On/Able, characterized by a clip-on design hitherto unseen for the Korean manufacturer.
Unfortunately for the moment these are not live photos nor renders, but icons used by the software. However they are enough to have a panorama of how the earphones’ design and the respective charging case will look.
Samsung readies the debut of the Galaxy Buds On/Able: more images thanks to the official app
Based on what emerged last April thanks to One UI and more recently via the Samsung app, the company has chosen a completely different approach from the traditional Galaxy Buds in-ear.
The new earphones aim to offer greater comfort, allowing users to stay constantly aware of their surroundings. The TWS design mirrors what has been seen with other similar models, such as Huawei FreeClip 2: each earbud consists of two distinct elements, namely a rounded module that sits near the auditory canal, and a second element intended to rest behind the ear.
Both are connected by a curved arm that allows the device to latch onto the ear without entering the ear canal, while ensuring a stable grip.
This is a solution that differs markedly from the current Galaxy Buds, adopting a setup already seen in the field of open-ear earbuds with a clip-on design.
No bone conduction: Samsung chooses open-ear technology
Earlier rumors had suggested the use of bone conduction, but the new images seem to refute this possibility. The Galaxy Buds On/Able should indeed use the technology Open Wireless Stereo (OWS), based on air conduction.
In practical terms, the earphones use traditional speakers that direct the sound toward the ear canal while keeping it open, so you can listen to music, podcasts or calls while still perceiving external noises. This feature is particularly useful during sports activities or when walking through the hustle and bustle of the city.
The images also show the charging case, compact in size and equipped with a front LED, useful for quickly checking the battery status. At present no further information has emerged regarding autonomy, specifications or software features.
Possible launch by the end of the year
Samsung has not yet officially announced the Galaxy Buds On/Able, but according to rumors the debut could take place by the end of the year, likely together with the future Galaxy S26 FE (perhaps as early as September).
