Google has started rolling out an update to the Gemini app’s user interface, refining the restyling introduced over the past months with the aim of making navigation more streamlined.
The update specifically concerns the simplification of the selection of reasoning models, the introduction of an advanced control over push notifications, and a visual reorganization for the Gemini Spark section.
Gemini updates, easier to choose the models and manage notifications
One of the most noticeable changes concerns the dropdown menu used for the selection of models and the level of reasoning within the application.
Previously, the interface explicitly displayed the option named “Standard” among the available alternatives. Since this was the default mode for processing responses, the constant presence of this option was redundant for the user.
With the new version of the application, the menu has been streamlined and shows only the option “Extended Thinking” under the item related to the level of analysis.
The removal of the default label makes the screen cleaner, allowing you to identify immediately the advanced calculation features without visually cluttering the settings structure.
The update also introduces a redesigned section for the management of notifications sent by the application. Entering the Gemini app settings, users will now find several independent selectors that allow enabling or disabling specific categories of notifications.
Among the available options are commands dedicated to the daily briefing “Daily Brief“, to scheduled actions, to generated responses, and to product updates accompanied by practical tips.
All selectors are enabled by default at the time of installing the update, but they guarantee full freedom to deactivate promotional messages or usage guides, leaving only strictly operational communications enabled.

Notable changes also affect Gemini Spark, a tool that has recently been extended to new geographic regions, even though it is not yet available in Italy.
The interface now shows a top navigation bar enriched with quick filters, designed to categorize content in the sections “All“, “Scheduled” and “Requires intervention“.
At the same time, the menu button traditionally located in the top-right corner has been removed to make room for a search icon, designed to facilitate viewing and managing tasks.
As is customary for the company’s releases, server-side deployment happens gradually. Those who don’t yet see the new screens will simply have to wait.
