As we await the debut of HyperOS 4 (expected for August, according to leaks), Xiaomi continues to roll out updates to improve its interface, and this time it’s a gaming-focused feature.
Lei Jun’s company announced Xiaomi Game Space, a new application that takes the place of the current Game Booster (or Game Turbo), introducing a completely redesigned interface and new features.
Xiaomi Game Space for HyperOS: the rollout of the new app version begins in China
Born in 2019 (when gaming smartphones began to take off), the Game Turbo app has evolved over the years. Essentially, it is software that allows you to optimize the phone’s performance during games, complete with a hub that lets you access all installed titles through a single application.
With the new Xiaomi update, it abandons the traditional name Game Turbo (or Booster in China) in favor of Game Space. The philosophy is the same – namely a platform that aims to gather all the games installed on the device in a single environment – but with several improvements.
As with the previous version, automatic library management is available: once the dedicated function is activated, newly installed games will be automatically added to Game Space, while the most frequently used ones will be displayed at the top of the list for quicker access.
Automatically optimized game profiles
Game Space also introduces intelligent settings management based on the type of game, with profiles dedicated to different genres. For example:
- MOBA games will be able to take advantage of a high-performance mode with a Do Not Disturb function, so as to avoid notifications during matches;
- the open world titles may instead prioritize graphic quality and heat dissipation management to keep the frame rate stable even during longer sessions.
Once configured, the settings are saved and automatically applied every time the corresponding game is launched.
More customization and redesigned interface
In addition to the performance-related aspects, Xiaomi has also worked on customization.
The new version of the software indeed allows modifying the appearance of the gaming-dedicated environment through custom themes and animations, offering a more polished experience than the current Game Turbo/Booster.
The interface features a more modern and symmetrical layout, with panels featuring rounded corners, better organization of controls and clearer visual details. The transparency effects have also been revised to align with HyperOS’s graphic language, while the FPS counter and the performance modes are immediately more readable during gaming sessions.
Finally, it is also possible to customize the appearance on the phone’s home screen, choosing between the classic icon or a larger widget (which shows a partial list of installed games).
When will Xiaomi Game Space arrive
The rollout will begin in the Chinese market, and then progressively expand to other countries as well. At the moment Xiaomi has not communicated a precise timeline for global distribution, so it will be necessary to wait for the update to run its course.
